Organizations are the congregation of the people. Development of human resources is a key managerial responsibility. Raw human resource can only make limited contribution towards organizational goal achievement. Any development strategy should be oriented towards the continued well-being of human race. Nowadays, the impact of stress on the well being of the employees has gained much importance. It can be regarded as a new dimension of H.R.D. A good H.R.D department is characterized not only by its concern to enhance the contributory efficiency or effectiveness of its employees but also its genuine concern to improve its employees well being. A good instrument to ensure or measure an employee’s well-being is stress-audit! As stress affects all at some time or, a H.R.D. department should have its focus on measuring and taking steps to combat stress. Stress is characterized by the body’s nonspecific response to the varying demands that are placed upon it. Stress is the wear and tear our bodies experience as we adjust to our continually changing environment; it had physical and emotional effects on us and can create positive or negative feelings. As a positive influence, stress can help compel us to action; it can result in a new awareness and an exciting new perspective. As a negative influence, it can result in feelings of distrust, rejection, anger, and depression, which in turn can lead to health problems such as headaches, upset stomach, rashes, insomnia, ulcers, high blood pressure, heart disease, and stroke. In this new millennium, flexibility is still one of the most important success factors for industrial organizations. Due to the fast changing environment e.g., volatility of demand there is a need for agile manufacturing systems, to maintain sustainable competitiveness and to gain a competitive advantage. Employees are still the most flexible actor in production and operations management. Employees are the most important resource of an organization and developing those leads to the growth of both the employees and the organization as a whole. Stress can be insidious and cumulative stress affects organization as well as the individuals within them. The best way to avoid suffering from stress is to learn to anticipate it. Stress and its impact on Organizational Outcome

Stress at work can be defined as the physical and emotional problems that occur in an employee who faces them due to stress because of the nature of his job and his surroundings i.e. his organization/company. Stress has been an increasing concern in today's corporate era. In this paper, we have summed up how stress effects an employee , what are the causes and how it effects an employee's overall outcome which in turn effects the organizations outcome. A qualitative approach has been used to conduct this research.

Cut throat competition and grueling pace of change have made employers realize that employees are the only source of competitive advantage. Given the pressure to perform and compete stress will be a natural concomitant. It is therefore important that executive stress is kept at bay to ensure health, performance, morale and well being of the executives. In today’s scenario, to develop stress management strategies for the employees is not only an option but also a necessity for an employer. This paper attempts to understand the nature of stress in the present day scenario and suggest simple yet effective ways of coping as often times the prescriptions we get for stress management prove to be more problematic than the problem itself.

There are plenty of general problems that people at work worry aboutincreasing job competition, globalization, terrorism, annual appraisals, financial crisis, even new technology. Beside these, employees are put under pressure to meet sales targets, attend meetings on time, fit in with changes in organization by learning and following up new procedures. All these can result different levels of stress. Nowadays, working stress is the fastest growing cause of absence from work. Inefficient management, lack of decisionmaking by management, excessive working hours, uncertainty as to future employment prospects and the pressure of the job are some of the causes of stress described by employees. Therefore, employers should consider organizational stress as a serious problem and they must take measures to prevent employees suffering stress arising from their work. It can negatively influence the productivity and competitiveness of the organization, and can also increase health insurance costs.

A Study On Stress Management In The Workplace

Stress has been recognized as one of the major issues in the workplace. Stress refers to a state of psychological and physiological imbalance resulting from the difference between situational demand and the individual ability to meet those needs. The purpose of this study is to investigate the causes of stress and to highlight the consequences arise from stress. It also gives importance on the ways to measure and manage stress in the workplace. The study found that stress is a fact and indeed a common problem to any type of people but of the different types and it can be alleviate if one knows how to take good care of himself and his surroundings.

Organizational Stress and Its Impact on Work Performance

Nowadays, in times of economic crisis, most managers or entrepreneurs have to cope with a lot of new job challenges which can easily transform into stressors. Work related stress is of growing concern because it has significant economic implications for the organization. Even if some stress is a normal part of life, excessive stress can influence one's productivity, health and emotions and it has to be taken under control. When people lose confidence, they refuse to take responsibilities, they get quickly irritated, they are unsatisfied of their job, their performance will be very low and the organization will be in danger. Fortunately, most managers and entrepreneurs know which stress main symptoms are and have the necessary knowledge for managing and reducing it before it can affect employees' daily work. Stress can have an impact both on the organizational welfare and on personal behavior of supervisors or employees, that's why, the ability of managing it can make the difference between job's success or failure. The purpose of this paper is to study Romanian managers and entrepreneurs from Bihor County's perception regarding the stress phenomenon, if they feel that they are affected by stress, if they promote some methods to reduce it and if they consider that stress can influence the organizational performance. As a research method we used an online questionnaire, applied to a number of 75 managers and entrepreneurs that represent the target group of the project "Flexibility and performance through management", project financed by the European Social Fund-"Invest in people". Each participant had to answer a number of 35 questions regarding stress and the results will be presented in this paper. The main conclusion is that, even if job itself is seen as a stressor, there are other important factors that can produce stress such as: family problems, personal problems or social problems.

Work Stress and its Management: A Practical Case Study

This research studies work stress, and how it is related to performance and productivity in an organization. At first, definitions and types of stress are defined, along with its sources and effect on individual. Then, a demonstration of the subsequent consequences of individual stress on an organization is discussed, hence showing the importance of stress management in an organization. Stress management policies and procedures are then explained and specified for each significant type of a stressor. This is done using a practical case study of an organization, where it shows how this firm deals with each kind of different stressors.
