The quality of communication between a teacher and a student is one of the major factors that affects the efficiency of teaching-learning activities. In this research, the perceptions of student-teachers and their instructors at Marmara University, Atatürk Faculty of Education, have been comparatively investigated in terms of ideal/actual faculty- teacher and student. The sample consisted of 312 student-teachers and 33 faculty- teachers. The research was theoretically based on Transactional Analysis, a theory that explains human behavior and communication with three ego states as Child, Adult and Parent. The data from the faculty-teachers and student- teachers were collected by The Ego State Inventory developed by Ar› (1989) and included perceptions toward each other, ideal /actual faculty-teacher and student. The major findings were as follows: The perceptions of student / faculty- teachers showed similarities regarding ideal facultyteacher and student. Faculty teacher perceived actual students higher in Child ego state whereas student-teachers perceived actual faculty- teacher higher in Parent ego state. Findings were discussed in relation to Transactional Analysis and their educational consequences.
Communication Styles of Primary School Teachers During Teaching

In international literature, teacher communication style (TCS) is defined as the teacher's ability to effectively communicate, verbally and nonverbally, with his/her students in order to improve their academic performance and manage their behavior. Surveys in educational environments show that each teacher may display a primary communication style during classroom teaching with recurring other styles of communication, which can change according to the audience and the situations he/she has to deal with. This combination of communication styles enables individuals not to feel confined to the way they communicate, but to become flexible and capable of choosing communication strategies according to the variety of situations they are faced with. Within this framework, the present study deals with the phenomenon of human communication and focuses on the communication style of teachers. More specifically, the study explores the communication style of primary school teachers during teaching process, utilizing modern Greek and international typology and teachers' communication strategies according to Jay Lemke and behaviors related to verbal and nonverbal immediacy during teaching. Those communication styles shaping the school climate and contribute in interpersonal relationship development among teachers, students and parents.

Communication, this is the most basic of the communication. It occurs when an individual sends and receives messages internally. 3 Rothwell Communicating with Strangers, posits that interpersonal communication is dyadic communication; according to him, it is a transaction that takes place between two people. 4 An effective communication is marked by interpersonal communication. Obstacles in communication have a little bit consequence if there is a good relationship between communicators. Meanwhile communication is clearly and accurately will misunderstanding if the communicators have bad relationship. This case could occur in learning process between teachers and the students especially in this research is teachers of SMA Negeri 11 Luwu and their students. The broken relationship created by the teachers with their students will make misunderstanding, for example the teacher is kill error kinder in teaching. Those have influence in communication or in transferring the message to the students. And then the results of it are the students becomemore afraid, audacious or not serious in learning process. The teachers are not only transfer the message to the students, but also decide the degree of interpersonal communication. They are not only focus in the content, but also the relationship. During the learning process, teachers should keep attention in using interpersonal communication because it has big effect in learning process. The success of learning process is onhow they communicate their idea or knowledge to their students.

The educational area is one of the most complex and most responsible areas of human activity. The educational process signifies a multi-dimensional reality, which implies relationships between teachers and students, teachers and school associates, students and parents, teachers and parents, actually implies the relationships of all factors of that process. The teacher greatly influences the effectiveness of teaching, interaction, and relationship in the classroom, because of that many research focuses on teacher skills that affect the quality of interpersonal relationships. Pedagogical communication is realized through the interpersonal, intrapersonal and social relations of the factors of the educational process. The quality of the relationship in the process of education is the result of the teacher's relationship with the students on the one hand and the relation of the student towards the teacher on the other. The dimensions of the teacher's interpersonal skills, which will be further emphasized below, are supporting for students, control, empathy towards students, teacher motivation for students, and cooperation with parents. Good quality relationship with students established teachers who are realistic, who appreciate the students and who are empathetic, and who show a way how to share their feelings with the students. These feelings include warmth, care, and sympathy. Teachers who appreciate students accept them and show respect for them, taking into account the specific characteristics, aspirations, opportunities, and interests of students. The cooperation of teachers and parents is also featured. Cooperation is highly dependent on the personality of the teacher, his commitment and attitude which has towards parents and towards cooperation. Since cooperation implies a reciprocal process, it is necessary to have the same engagement and motivation of the parents themselves to cooperate with the teachers, so the cooperation can be complete. Successful educational work is only possible within a quality school environment. For this reason, one of the main goals of the educational process is to establish the optimal interpersonal relationships on which the interpersonal communication of the factors involved in the educational process is based. The aim of this paper was to determine the frequency of occurrences of some interpersonal teachers' skills which contribute to the construction and maintenance of a positive school environment and the differences in appearance with regard to gender, age and work experience in the profession of teachers. For the purpose of this study, 100 teachers from 8 elementary schools from Zadar were examined. Out of this there were 80 female and 20 male respondents. We used a questionnaire containing 75 statements that examined five dimensions of teacher interpersonal skills using Likert scale. The data analysis first shows the frequency response of the examined skill. Then there was a comparison of the gender, age and work experience of the teacher. Research has shown that teachers mostly use medium and high support, control and empathy with the students, motivating students and cooperation with parents. The results also showed that male respondents used more control over the classes than female respondents, while they cooperate more closely with parents than male respondents.

An effective teacher has to be able to create a good communication between the teacher and the students. It can be seen from teachers behaviour include verbal and non verbal behaviours. In teaching context, teachers convey interaction in the classroom to contribute to interpersonal attraction through teachers’ verbal and nonverbal behaviours. This research study explored the teachers’ behavior in English classroom interaction. This research design is a qualitative research. Participants were two teachers at English School Indonesia, who taught in two intermediate levels. One teacher was represented for each classroom. The instruments used to collect the data was observation and interview. During the observation, each teacher was observed using video recording. And then the teachers were interviewed to strengthen the result of observation.
