The quality of counselor performance can be seen from the implementation of professional counseling that is complete and effective. On the other side, Indonesian counselors are struggling with Permendikbud No. 111 of 2014, which provides professional services at a ratio that approves a counselor serving 150 students. This makes it necessary for a counseling model that has a simpler, more concise procedure and immediately shows effective results accompanied by a load of cultural awareness in the implementation process. LKP3A counselor in terms of quality and quantity is still very lacking. One of the indications is there are still many unskillful bachelor degree graduates that work as counselors. Thus, there is a need for assistance and empowerment to meet the needs of the community. Evaluation of the understanding of School Counselors on Individual Counseling Process in Indonesia

This research used a descriptive comparative study with 68 school counselors in Indonesia, using the PK-Kp Inventory which consists of 36 items with a score ranging from 0–1. Furthermore, the analysis research such as the level of knowledge was in percentage, and test of the level of understanding in individual counseling process was based on years of service with the Mann-Whitney U Test. This study therefore, shows that school counselors understanding are good both in 20 years of service. However, there is no significant difference in school counselors understanding of counseling process based on years of service. Therefore, their knowledge needs to be ameliorated by receiving in-service training, seminars and workshops, therefore their knowledge can be improved.
Community Needs Assessment for a Professional University Health Counselling Course in Cambodia

Developing health and counselling professionals remains an important part of supporting mental health services in Cambodia. This paper aims to identify how the key stakeholders and mental health experts in Cambodia consider how a university level health counselling course could contribute to addressing the needs/treatment gap for mental health services in Cambodia. In order to do this, the study consists of semi-structured interviews with stakeholders, community needs assessment, and community resource mapping. The data were drawn from 15 NGOs, various profit and not-for-profit organizations as well as two key government stakeholders. The participants were invited to take part in a stakeholders/expert semi-structured interview that lasted between 30-60 minutes at the participants' organizations. The findings revealed that all participants believe that a university level health counseling course was crucial in Cambodia to address pressing mental health issues in the country. Most participants believed that a graduate or postgraduate level program such as a B.A. or M.A. was necessary to train qualified counsellors. The program should be internationally benchmarked, with a Cambodian context. Topics should include psychopathology, professional ethics and competencies, counselling theories and interventions, trauma treatment, as well as emotional intelligence and addiction. Other topics might need to include parenting, support system for suicidal patients, selfcare, staff wellbeing programs, and school counselor programs.

The involvement of community figure is one form of participation in health development, including in the Healthy Indonesia Program with Family Approach (PIS-PK). The purpose of this study was to determine the role of community figure in PIS-PK. The type of study was a qualitative study in one kelurahan which was included in the working area of Community Health Care (CHC) Banjarnegara 1 in Banjarnegara District, Central Java, which was chosen purposively. Data collection was done by in-depth interview. The key informants were community figure, namely from the kelurahan (kelurahan head and its staff) and community members who were considered community figure in the village. The treatment gap in mental health care in Indonesia is a critical issue due in large measure to the dearth of professional mental health staff. In response to this need, our team designed a mental health training program for existing community health workers. The training program was offered to 65 participants at 2 (two) community primary care center (Puskesmas); we evaluated the training program with quantitative and qualitative methods. We assessed the gains in knowledge using a 20-question knowledge assessment test. In addition, in Puskesmas 1, the test was repeated as a follow-up test 4 months after the training. Statistical analysis showed that the differences between pre-test and post-test scores were significant in both Puskesmas 1 (p = 0.004) and Puskesmas 2 (p < 0.001). This study concluded that the model of integrative training appears effective for preparing Indonesian CHWs to recognize and respond to needs for mental health care.
