Purpose: The readiness and strategies of management are important factors to gain higher passing grade on nursing national competency examination. This study analyzed the strategy and readiness of the managers to success try out and national competency examination and the readiness for administering Computer Based Test on national nursing competency examination in Indonesia.Methods: This descriptive correlative research with population of 437 three years diploma in nursing institutions used quota and accidental sampling technique with 123 participants. The Predicting Factors of Success in the Indonesian National Nursing Competency Test

The implementation of the Indonesian National Nursing Competency Test faces several challenges, especially those associated with low passing rates. Low passing rates are a concern of all nursing schools because they reflect the quality of the institution. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors predicting success on the Indonesia National Nursing Competency Test. The research design was descriptive correlational. Participants in the study were 201 alumni of the Faculty of Nursing at Universitas Pelita Harapan in Indonesia. Statistical tests showed a significant correlation between academic achievement (academic stage GPA, professional stage GPA, English proficiency score, and tryout) and the national competency test, while demographic data showed no significant correlation. Introduction: The Indonesian government mandated the national examination for health professional in 2014. Yogyakarta was the province with the highest percentage achievement for this past five years and it was affected by many factors. This study was conducted to analyze what are the factors that influence the success in national nursing examination of three year nursing students in Yogyakarta.Methods: This descriptive correlative design with sample of 926 graduate students of three years diploma in Yogyakarta and total sampling technique was used. The data were analyzed by frequency distribution, F-test, multiple regression and R2 for the determinant analysis unit. Results:The study identified that 78.1% of the participants were female with age of 20 to 24 years old, 68.2 % were come from Yogyakarta, 96,9% had academic grade with range of 3 to 3.99. Indonesian Nurses’ Journey in Passing the Japan National Nursing Licensure Examination

Background: Despite the significant number of Indonesian nurses joining the Japanese National Nursing Licensure Examination (JNNLE), only a few of those were successful. Indonesian nurses as one of active migration player to Japan's market remain a critical support in supporting human resources for health in Japan. However, the successful nurses' perspectives have yet to be understood entirely. This study aimed to explore the experiences of Indonesian nurses who successfully passed the JNNLE. Methods: This study used a descriptive qualitative approach. The participants were twenty Indonesian nurses who have passed the licensure examination. This study was carried out by semi-structured interviews conducted virtually. The data were analyzed using thematic content analysis. Results: Five themes were discovered in this study: language ability as the key to succeeding in the exam, strategies to passing the exam, supporting resources as factors to increase the passing rate, understanding the nature of nursing exam, and internal motivation to be recognized as a professional nurse in a foreign country. Conclusion: Indonesian nurses who passed the Japanese national nursing licensure examination tend to deploy planned strategies. Honing the language skills while working and living in Japan is very important, while structured support systems in the hospital, government, and social network are imperative to learning the new knowledge in the area of nursing care in Japan.
DETERMINANTS OF PERFORMANCE OF NURSING GRADUATES IN LICENSURE EXAMINATION

The study aimed to determine the factors affecting the performance of Bicol University graduates in the Nurses' Licensure Examination (NLE). Specifically, it determined the (1) profile of the graduates such as: pre-admission profile (College Entrance Test or CET, General Weighted Average or GWA in high school) and performance in nursing school (academic performance and Related Learning Experience or RLE); (2) performance of graduates in the NLE; (3) relationship between the profile of the respondents and their performance in the NLE; and (4) predictors to passing the NLE. Using the stratified random sampling design, this descriptive-evaluative research gathered the secondary data of 247 graduates who took the NLE from 2003 to 2007. Fifty-eight percent (58%) of the graduates who passed the NLE had a very satisfactory to superior pre-admission profile and superior academic performance in the nursing program. There is a positive correlation between the NLE rating and the profile of the graduates. Among the profile variables, academic performance was found to be the best predictor in the NLE; thus, students with excellent pre-admission profile who perform well in nursing school are most likely to pass the NLE. It is, therefore, imperative for the college to adhere to the admission policies and to institute teaching-learning strategies in assisting the students to achieve an excellent academic performance to pass the NLE.

Objectives: Indonesian Competency Exam (UKNI) is a process of measuring skills knowledge, and performance of students in universities that obtaining nursing department which aimed to achieve the competency standards of alumnae who meet up with work proficiency standard. Unfortunately 24 nursing department/institution in South Sulawesi that conduct UKNI have passing rates only reached 21.19% in four periods of UKNI completion, these results lower than the national UKNI results which reached 37%. Methods: The design of the research is a cross sectional study which discusses and analyzes the relationship between UKNI guidance / enrichment with the graduation level of students at UKNI, 95 lecturers in 18 nursing study programs in South Sulawesi who were given a questionnaire. After completing the Nursing Professional Education Program (NPEP), ideally all of the nursing students had mastered the nursing skills' competency. However, the reality of these conditions might be different. Many factors have been found which affect the achievement of the nursing skills' competency. This study aims to identify the inhibiting factors of nursing students' skills competencies during NPEP in the Faculty of Nursing USU. This is a descriptive study. Samples in this study were 25 students who had completed NPEP. Data were collected by interviewing process. Results of the study were presented in narrative method. The results showed that the biggest inhibitor in achieving competency was the non-nursing tasks assigned by the hospital's staff; other inhibitors were the nursing students' personal problems, the clinical preceptors, unit's equipment and other professions. The nursing students suggested that faculty of nursing should provide the hospital pre-clinic program before enrolling NPEP, so that they would have the better understanding about the real situations in the hospital and could minimize such inhibitors.

Purpose This study explores the Korean nurses' experience of preparing for and taking the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) in order to provide a deeper understanding of their experiences. Method The study utilizes the qualitative research method, Colaizzi's phenomenological methodology. Twenty-six Korean nurses were interviewed using semi-structured research questions and their interviews were analyzed. Results Seven clusters of themes emerged: (a) motivation; (b) flow in studying, (c) expansion of nursing knowledge for nursing practice; (d) reflections of nursing practice and attitude toward themselves; (e) time management struggles; (f) increased self-confidence and self-esteem; (g) setting a new life direction and new challenges. In general, our analyses demonstrated that the nurses' experiences of preparing for and taking the NCLEX-RN showed positive impacts on the nurses, psychologically, intellectually and interpersonally. Conclusion The results suggest that developing NCLEX-RN preparation programs is needed to promote global capabilities for nurses and nursing students. Further studies on the effect of exposure to the NCLEX-RN exam while nursing school for nurses is recommended. [

Background: Public knowledge regarding health services has been increasing significantly in the recent years and it has an effect on increasing community demands for quality health services. Therefore, health workers with good skills, intelligent, and communicative are needed. Good competence is also needed in carrying out their roles and functions according to the code of ethics The competencies of health worker graduates are different in every regions in Indonesia. The majority of health workers perceive that their current competencies are not in accordance with their expectations. To ensure that health workers produced by educational institutions have the same competence, all health worker graduates are required to take a competency test as a requirement for obtaining a registration certificate. Exit exam is a competency test that is conducted as a requirement for graduation. This study aims to provide an overview of the relationship between the knowledge, perceptions, motivation and expectations of nursing and midwifery students on the competency test as a graduation requirement. Methods: This is a mix-method study (A quantitative and qualitative methods were used). The quantitative method used was non-experimental, with a crosssectional approach, and qualitative methods to find out information about the perceptions, motivations and expectations of respondents about the implementation of the competency exam as a passing requirement. The number of samples in this study were 246 respondents, consisting of DIII midwifery, Nursing DIII and nurses (82 respondents for each colleges). Results: The results of the study based on the path analysis showed that education had no influence on knowledge, respondents' perceptions and expectations of the competency test, but had an influence on motivation (P = < 0.01). Knowledge does not affect on perception, motivation or expectation, while for perception variable affects on motivation (P = 0.026) and expectation (P= <0.01). Conclusion: Respondents' expectations will be directly influenced by motivation and perception.
Determining Readiness to Take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses

Numerous studies have examined the association between pre-admission and/or during nursing program variables and the outcome on the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN®; National Council of State Boards of Nursing [NCSBN]; 2015) but very few studies have examined post-graduation variables. This study examined post-graduation variables associated with the outcome on the NCLEX-RN® examination. The purpose of this exploratory field study was twofold. The first aspect was to identify the benchmark score on a post-graduation test (the Kaplan RN Readiness Exam; Sanders, 2014) correlated with passing the NCLEX-RN® examination. The second aspect was to explore factors that the outliers (those candidates who met the benchmark score on the Kaplan RN Readiness Exam yet failed the NCLEX-RN® examination on the first attempt and those candidates who scored 4% or more below the benchmark on the Kaplan RN Readiness Exam and passed the NCLEX-RN® examination on the first attempt) identified as contributing to their outcome. The variables examined in this study were graduates' gender, age, previous degree, first-generation college student, type of nursing program, end of program grade point average, amount of recommended NCLEX® (NCSBN, 2015) prep completed, the average score on the recommended NCLEX® preparation tests, the Kaplan RN iv Readiness (Sanders, 2014) exam score, outcome on the first attempt on the NCLEX-RN® examination, and factors candidates identified as contributing to their outcome on the NCLEX-RN® examination. The sample for the first phase of the study consisted of 284 pre-licensure baccalaureate nursing program graduates from a private, not-for-profit health sciences college in the Midwestern United States between May 2016 and May 2018. The sample for the second phase of the study consisted of seven participants from the first phase of the study. The findings of this study identified the Kaplan RN Readiness Exam (Sanders, 2014) as a test that accurately (with 95% confidence) predicted passing the NCLEX-RN® (NCSBN, 2015) examination. Yet, there were some outliers: those who met the benchmark Kaplan RN Readiness Exam score and yet failed the NCLEX-RN® examination and those who scored 4% or more below the Kaplan RN Readiness Exam and passed the NCLEX-RN® examination. The common factor for these outliers was anxiety. All the outliers reported anxiety leading up to the NCLEX-RN® examination and some identified the "check in" process for the licensure examination increased their anxiety. However, those who had scored 4% or more below the benchmark on the Kaplan RN Readiness Exam reported their anxiety subsided while taking the NCLEX-RN® examination and they were able to stay focused while taking the licensure examination. Whereas, those who had met the benchmark score on the Kaplan RN Readiness Exam reported they continued to have anxiety and were distracted by either movement or noises in the testing environment or by thoughts in their head while taking the NCLEX-RN® examination, which prevented them from being able to focus while taking the licensure examination. v This study provided rich data about determining post-graduation readiness to take the NCLEX-RN® (NCSBN, 2015) examination. Very little publicly available published data exist regarding post-graduation factors associated with NCLEX® success so much of the data were new and enlightening with implications for both nurse educators and graduates. The results of this study could lay the groundwork for further research on preparing nursing graduates to be successful on their first-attempt on the NCLEX-RN® examination. vi ACKNOWLEDGMENTS This project was the culmination of a long, but rewarding journey that experienced a few detours along the way.
