Stakeholder Management on Construction Projects: A Key Indicator for Project Success
American Journal of Civil Engineering, 2016
Participation is now an international agenda for ensuring full representation of people in terms of their ideas, feeling and decision on matters concerning their development. It has been observed that most projects fail after implementation not due to poor execution but rather due poor stakeholder consultation and engagement. The purpose of this study was to determine the barriers to stakeholder involvement in developmental projects at the grassroots level and examine the impact of stakeholder involvement on the success of projects implemented. Data was gathered through structured questionnaires distributed to ordinary citizens, community leaders and local authority staff in selected district assemblies in Ghana. Analysis of structured questionnaires revealed that there was inadequate explanation of the background, technical and material justification for the project to the stakeholders prior to project initiation. Stakeholders held that they had difficulty in participating in technical discussions and there was the perceived unwillingness of project implementers to involve them during decision making, to this end, the impact of stakeholders towards project success was significant. To overcome the challenge of stakeholder involvement and meaningful impact to projects, stakeholders must develop capacities to contribute meaningfully in discussions or delegate their concerns to professional representatives. To this end, projects implementers must acknowledge the value of stakeholders and embark on stakeholder outreach to solicit their involvement for enhanced project success.

A Study of the Current Practice of Stakeholder Management in Construction Projects
2014
Over the past years, stakeholder management has been advocated as a means of increasing the propensity for successful delivery of construction projects. A review on the issues and strategies of stakeholder management in the construction industry
In every project, particularly construction, there will be numerous parties involved, directly or indirectly, from the very beginning to the end of the physical life of the project. The parties involved amongst others are the owner, designers, consultants, builders, suppliers, financiers, lawyers as well as end users or the public. Stakeholders contributed and share their experiences, knowledge, insights to support the project throughout the project life and therefore it is crucial to capture their input. A Framework for Stakeholder Management in Construction Projects
Journal of Management in Engineering, 2014
This paper presents a systematic and generic framework reference for the practice of stakeholder management in the construction industry. It contains findings from empirical studies, comprising six interviews, a pilot study, a questionnaire survey in Hong Kong and fifteen interviews in Australia. Six activity groups (i.e. precondition, project data identification, stakeholder estimation, decision making, action and evaluation, and sustainable support) and a total of 18 activities within these groups and their interrelations formulate the main body of the framework. The proposed framework was validated by five real-life projects, the results of which confirm the applicability of the proposed framework. This study serves as a reference for project management teams to systematically manage stakeholders in construction projects.
The Influence of Stakeholder Factors Affecting the Success of Construction Projects In Indonesia
Journal of Physics: Conference Series
This study was conducted to determine the influence of the factors of stakeholders affecting the success of the project from designers, contractors, supervision consultants, clients, government development projects. To complete projects that successfully meet the needs and expectations of clients and other stakeholders. Many researchers focus only on the internal of contractors and often the common goals are not achieved. In project management practices, contractors, designer consultants, supervisory consultants and project owners/clients are kept in touch and coordinate each other in the course of construction projects. The purpose of this study is to confirm the factors that have a positive and significant impact on the success of the project with the ultimate goal on criteria such as quality, cost, time, health and safety of the HSE environment and the satisfaction of the stakeholder. The model was validated through a survey returning 101 completed questionnaires with Generalized Stuctured Component Analysis (GSCA-SEM) as the method of analysis.
