In developing countries like India, it made substantial achievements in higher education with the help of information technology during the global pandemic. In a situation where schools and colleges were largely closed due to a complete lockdown, information technology contributed a lot to the continuation of the learning process, as a result of which the importance of information technology came to the notice of the people and students. Today, the revolutionary use of ICT is witnessed in everyday life. The main advantage of ICT is the removal of barriers in classroom teaching. ICT helps to connect more and more people with the educational system in the mode of combined and distance education. E-learning is another mode of education that provides education at zero cost to every individual. ICT provides reliability and maximum efficiency in learning. This research article is related to information technology and from an academic point of view, you can see a lot of use after the corona pandemic. The research paper has been prepared on the basis of primary and secondary information for this research. Secondary information has been collected from national international research articles and primary information from 160 respondents.

We are living in the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0. The use of digital devices and the internet is increasing day by day. Furthermore, the Covid-19 pandemic is accelerating its movement to the next level very quickly. Side by side, the digital divide is getting out and reflecting clearly. The world is testimonying its division or segregation in different spheres based on the use of digital devices and ICT. Our education in general and higher education , in particular, are no exceptions to it. In this documentary and narrative literature analysis of 28 research articles and survey statistics, we have tried to give an overview of the present status of the digital divide in India, its causes, problems, impacts on Indian higher education and initiatives taken by the Government of India to bridge the gaps. Finally, we have tried to identify and suggest some effective ways to minimize the gaps and reduce the negative impacts on education.

A new situation in the form of Global pandemic COVID-19 (Coronavirus Disease 2019) has appeared in the foreground. Globally, societies are acclimatizing to this new reality with social, cultural, economic, and educational implications. Most governments around the world have temporarily closed educational institutions in an attempt to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. To mitigate the impact of these closures, educational institutes around the world including in India are adopting ICT tools for digital learning and making educators & students mindful of the various digital/e-learning platforms. This research paper aims at studying the scenario in India for use of ICT tools in teaching and learning processes during the global pandemic. The study has been done with both educators and learners to ascertain the true scenario of the use of ICT tools and the effectiveness of the same on the education system. The major aim of this study is to find out factors affecting the use of ICT in education and to provide for future research in the same direction. The study also aims at finding the awareness of ICT tools among the trainers/ educators and students/learners. It was found out that due to pandemic and subsequent lockdown, students and teachers have to use these tools to avoid any kind of loss in the teaching-learning progress. Video Conferencing Platform "Zoom" is the most used application during this pandemic and is mostly used by students in their teens (Age range?). The study has given leads to further investigation on ICT usage in the Indian scenario. Introduction In the era of information and technology, many changes have taken place and those changes play an important part in our life now. Today technology is considered the reason for economic growth. It makes our life easier by adding ease to the process of achieving myriad goals. Information and communication technology (ICT) is the word, which has become very popular in every aspect of work whether it's personal, professional, or any category, also the usage is not new to academics. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, more often than not, educators/students turned to digital means to search and prepare information materials/ research assignments and not as educational resources to be exploited in the classroom. Now, most governments around the world have temporarily closed educational institutions in an attempt to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. These nationwide closures are affecting over 60% of the world's student population. Several other countries have implemented localized closures affecting millions of additional learners. In mid-April 2020, around 194 countries had fully closed their educational institute as a response to spread the curb of COVID-19. By Mid-July 109, countrywide closures are still in place with more than 1 billion learners affected. (UNESCO, n.d.). The COVID-19 pandemic has adversely affected and changed businesses, healthcare, travel, shopping, learning, etc. Pandemic has influenced teaching and learning process as people are confined in their home but because of technology despite not going to school, colleges, universities the educational learning has not come to a halt. Individuals and Organizations have started using technology to fill in the gap in the learning process created by the ongoing crisis. Hence, online learning has increased tremendously during the pandemic. Various distance-learning programs already use ICT across the world and online exams in different domains are employed for many decades now (Raja & Nagasubramani, 2018). The concept of a deeply entrenched ICT tool in the teaching-learning process is not unheard of in western countries or advanced countries but it was not at all widely used in India, despite the resources and support systems are available. To make productive use of this period for the bright future of students, educators and academicians across the nation have been making efforts to engage students in the online teaching learning process. E-learning refers to all types of learning facilitated and supported through the use of ICT. ICT implies those technologies which consist of the information that transfers through the communication channel. ICT in education is any hardware and software technology that contribute to educational information processing. In the lockdown period, both the students & teachers have to access knowledge via ICT to keep pace in the current information society. ICT reduces the barrier of social distancing as well as the impact of shut down on the education sector with the help of digital transformation in the Indian education system. So many national & international Webinars, Faculty Development Program, Workshop, Symposium, Quize, etc have been organised by different institutions with the help of ICT. INTERNET AND EDUCATION IN INDIA AMID COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic brought drastic changes in lives across the globe. Be it work, family, lifestyle, or education, not a single aspect was left untouched by its effect. The complete inclusion of the internet in education has always remained a topic of discussion among experts and digital education was perceived as the future of the education sector. But, the sudden outbreak of COVID-19 resulted in an indefinite lockdown and brought a halt in our lives. The educational institutions were shut down in India and the whole education system relied upon internet technology. The objective of this paper is to explore the method adopted by education institutions to continue classes through the online mode and the challenges faced by both the teachers and students in adapting to the new face of education amid the lockdown. The study presented in this paper is descriptive and analytic in nature and to achieve the objective of this paper, the data has been collected from secondary sources like blogs, news articles, and journals. The findings have revealed that, though various initiatives have been taken, still there is a need to work on several factors to enhance the learning and teaching experience of the students and teachers respectively.

C. Attending online classes requires long hours of internet, peaceful space and one device/ phone dedicated to each student in a family, might not be affordable for everyone. In a country like India, as all students do not belong to the same socioeconomic background and have to take care of domestic chores, family members and children, managing with limited space in the house, managing with a limited budget and poor connectivity in rural areas etc. may cause them to deal with discomfort, frustration and shame. Thus, according to Sarkar (2020), online classes have added to the already existing feelings of vulnerability among students.

This paper attempts to study the nature of the modern education process in India where diversity is seen economically, financially, socially and geographically not only in culture and ethnicity but also in purchasing power and affordability of the Indian people. The imposition of lockdown due to Covid-19 spread in India which has continued till today, promoted the e-learning process facilitated by digital instruments like Laptop, Smartphone, flash drives etc with the aid of several apps like Zoom, Skype, Google Meet etc. Institutes and enterprising teachers try to market e-learning among their students. For A-level and B-level cities its good and sounds very elite. However the areas with low connectivity and those belonging to underprivileged sections or living in far-flung areas that cannot afford data plans and other gadgets and drives it's another divide. These students are staring at the electronic divide that this new turn of digital education has brought them. As destined to be the electronic media inequality is staring and creating class privileges so the real world and the virtual one all have class privileges. So, while many universities and colleges are conducting online learning sessions, students from disadvantaged families or living in remote areas might not have access to Telegram, iCloud or, indeed, the internet even in the best of times. The paper uses secondary data from the published Government sources and websites and other data from cited papers. It is a descriptive study. This discussion paper brings forth the limiting aspect of Electronic Education various limitations the Digital Education has landed us on. An attempt is being made to explore the electronic divide that exists in India and bring to the discussion the infiltration of internet and, its use, applicability to the day to day needs of education by the people in India; also the initiatives under the ambitious Digital India Program is highlighted in the paper to find out India's progress in transforming itself into a digital society.

An Insight into Digital Education in India during COVID-19 from the Lens of Students

Aim: To identify infrastructure facilities used by the students for digital education as well as to find out the significant difference in knowledge and skills of various online tools before and after lockdown. Study Design: Exploratory design. Place and Duration of Study: Students from the government, aided colleges, and state agriculture universities in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana were administered the questionnaire in May 2020. Methodology: A total of 315 students (age range under 20-40 years) actively participating in online classes were chosen. Results: The majority of the students possessed mobile phones even before lockdown and used them for digital learning. Students reported an increase in the amount spent on internet connectivity per month (50%), increased usage of data (70%), and increased recharge amount (46%).
