Pancing ulur tuna telah digunakan secara luas oleh nelayan di Laut Sulawesi dan sekitarnya untuk menangkap ikan pelagis besar dengan kapal-kapal ukuran kecil. Walaupun konstruksinya telah berkembang sejak lama, tetapi masih memiliki potensi untuk meningkatkan efisiensi penangkapan dan selektivitasnya. Keberhasilan penangkapan tuna hand line, di samping dipengaruhi oleh umpan, juga dipengaruhi oleh teknik pengoperasian. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari hasil tangkapan tuna hand line dengan teknik pengoperasian yang berbeda di perairan Maluku. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada bulan September-November 2014 dengan menggunakan KM. Coelacanth dan KM. Melati 27, masing-masing sebanyak 6 trim. Kerentanan Species Ikan Retain pada Perikanan Tuna dari Alat Tangkap Handline

Kelompok ikan retain dari perikanan tuna juga termasuk kelompok komersial utama yang juga banyak dimanfaatkan. Penurunan hook rate tuna juga turut mempengaruhi perikanan tuna termasuk hasil tangkapan samping lainnya. Untuk itu penelitian kerentanan kelompok retain ini juga perlu dilakukan untuk mengetahui potensi berkelanjutannya. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Juli 2013 di Sendangbiru Malang, Bitung, Wakatobi, dan Kendari. Data yang dikumpulkan dan kemudian dianalisis adalah produkitivitas dan susceptabilitas menurut kriteria MSC (Marine Steward Council). Indek kerentanan dievaluasi dari indek jarak (Index Jaccard). Hasil tangkapan ikan retain dari perikanan tuna adalah ikan cakalang (Katsuwonus pelamis), ikan lemadang (Coryphaena hippurus), dan baby tuna (Thunnus albacores). The purpose of this research is to distinguish the productivity of purse seiner 20 - 30 GT and the fluctuation of Tuna, Skipjack and Tuna frigate landed in Bitung Ocean Fishing Port for the period of 2011 to 2015. Survey method with descriptive approach was applied in this research. The result indicated that the production reached the peak on 2011 to 2012 and subsequently decreased until 2015. Produktivitas Alat Tangkap Pancing Ulur (Hand Line) Pada Rumpon Portable DI Perairan Aceh Utara
The rumpon portable is a fishing auxiliary device that functions to collect fish with 11,000-15,000 Hz frequencey by using sound on the atractors of portable FADs that be able to collect small pelagic fish around portable FADs. The small pelagic fish have habit to configurate a schooling group in their lives for migrating, feeding, and spawning. The hand line is one of fishing gear used by small-scale fisherman to catch small pelagic fish. Therefore, it is important to know about productivity of handline on the portable FADs. This study used production data of handline with 15 fishing trips in August-September 2018 located in the waters of North Aceh. The result showed that 8 types, that is selar tetengkek (Megalaspis cordyla), pompano (Caranx ignobilis), grauper (Epinephelus fuscoguttatus), selar (Selaroides leptolepis), squid (Loligo indica), turmeric (Upeneus moluccensis), barred (Scomberomorini), and mackerel (Rastrelliger) with a total weight of 24,25 kg was caught around portable FADs using handline. The average productivity of handline on the portable FADs was 1,61 kg/trip. The catch composition showed that the dominant catch was squid.

Tuna (Thunnus albacares) is a big pelagic fish with an extensive distribution from tropics to subtropics. It is categorized as highly economic fish and takes important role in promoting fisheries trades at the national and international level. This study was aimed at knowing the handline fishing rate and appropriate fishing season. The method used in this study was descriptive through case study approach. The study employed secondary data of Bitung oceanic fisheries port based on 5 year-fisheries log data, from 2011 to 2015. Results showed that the lowest fishing rate occurred in November 2013, 2.24 kg/hr/fisher and the highest was found in November 2011, 93.14 kg/hr/fisher. Based on fishing season, it was found that fishing season occurred in January, July, August, September, October and November. Tuna, a dominant commodity in national capture fisheries sector, has significantly contributed to the development of the nation as a source of fishermen livelihoods and food for people. One alternative fishing gear to catch tuna is hand lines using artificial bait made of waste plastic packaging. The use of such artificial bait catches sufficient number of fish but the size of the artificial bait used cannot be determined with certainty. This study established the size of artificial bait which gives the best catches based on operating time by using Randomized Block Design and Least Significant Difference test. The analysis showed that the bait size of 7.0´0.6 cm had the most catch of Thunnus albacores and Katsuwonus pelamis. Total catch was 227 fish, total length 20 – 30 cm and width of the body 9.5 – 21.5 cm. This study uses two environmentally friendly fishing gears namely gill net and hand line. The length of one set of hand line is 100 m and the length of one set of gill nets is 250 m. The purpose of this study was to determine the number of catches, species composition of catches and the efficiency of fishing gear that provided benefits for the fishermen of Kusamba Village. This data collection was carried out in field plunge directly with fishermen using the one day trip method for 35 trips during the tuna fishing season by Kusamba Village fishermen. Ikan tuna (Thunnus sp) adalah salah satu jenis ikan ekonomis penting di dunia dan merupakan komoditi perikanan terbesar ketiga di Indonesia setelah udang dan ikan dasar. Ikan tuna memiliki harga yang relatif lebih mahal dibandingkan harga komoditas ikan lainnya dengan permintaan terus meningkat. Pokok permasalahan yang ingin diteliti adalah mengetahui ukuran ikan tuna yang didaratkan di Pelabuhan Perikanan Samudera (PPS) Bitung. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mengetahui komposisi ukuran hasil tangkapan tuna hand line; (2) menganalisis hubungan panjang dan berat hasil tangkapan tuna hand line. Data panjang dan berat ikan diperoleh dari data sekunder hasil tangkapan tuna hand line selama Agustus sampai Oktober 2014. Data diolah dengan memakai regresi sederhana. Pemanfaatan sumber daya ikan tuna di perairan Laut Banda sudah berlangsung lama. Penelitian tentang komposisi jenis hasil tangkapan dan distribusi ukuran tuna hasil tangkapan longline di perairan Laut Banda yang didaratkan di Pelabuhan Benoa dilakukan pada bulan Februari, Juni, Oktober dan November 2011. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hasil tangkapan longline yang dominan dari perairan Laut Banda adalah madidihang dan tuna mata besar. Ukuran madidihang yang tertangkap berada pada kisaran 95–165 FLcm dengan modus pada ukuran 105 FLcm dan tuna mata besar pada kisaran 75–185 FLcm dengan modus 115 dan 125 FLcm.
