Teachers' perceptions and readiness toward the implementation of virtual learning environment
International Journal of Evaluation and Research in Education (IJERE), 2021
The current trend of education is towards the implementation of technology in teaching in order to attract the attention of 21st century learners whereby teachers need to adopt technology-enhanced environment such as the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) in their teaching. This study aims to investigate the teachers’ perceptions and tendency to use VLE as a tool for teaching. The teachers’ perceptions were investigated based on the main constructs of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). The respondents were 178 teachers in southern state of Malaysia. The data were collected using a questionnaire and it is validated through the use of Rasch model. The finding was found that the teachers were moderately ready to use VLE and they moderately accepted the implementation of the VLE (mean=3.67 and 3.65). Besides that, the teachers felt that the VLE was useful (mean=3.58) and was easy to use (mean=3.34). It was also found that 84.2% of the teachers’ acceptance was influenced by the teachers’ readiness, and the teachers’ perceptions of the usefulness and ease of using the VLE in teaching. Therefore, it can be concluded that Malaysian teachers has intention to use VLE in their teaching. The use of VLE can improve the innovative way of teaching that can increase students’ interest in constructing knowledge through their learning process.
Teachers’ perception towards virtual learning environment
2014
Nowadays, teachers are having difficulty in integrating technology into the curriculum and instructions besides needing extra time to integrate it. The introduction of Frog VLE (Virtual Learning Environment) application in schools has raised the necessity to investigate teachers' perception where the implementation of Frog VLE is highly influenced by teachers' tendency of using the tool. Thus, the objectives of this study are to identify the teacher's perceptions to use the application as one of the tools for teaching and learning based on level of readiness, also, based on the main construct of Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) which include teachers' acceptance, perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. This study also investigates the influence of the application towards teacher's perception. This study applied survey design using a questionnaire. The questionnaire was self-developed and is reliable with the reliability value of 0.98. Samples were select...
Factors Affecting Teachers Attitude towards Designing Virtual Learning Environment
Environment-Behaviour Proceedings Journal
In many developing countries, Information and Communication Technology had been introduced. Its integration with the curriculum is limited. In view of this, a survey was conducted to examine the factors that affect teacher’s attitude in adopting virtual learning environment in their classroom teaching. The result of regression analysis revealed that Perceived usefulness and Perceived ease of use, had been seen to have more considerable significance than Social Influence and Facilitating Condition in affecting teacher’s attitude to adopt Frog VLE. Together these constructs explained 57 per cent the variance in teacher’s intention to use VLE application in their teaching. Objective - This research aims to explore whether the intention of ICT adoption in teaching Malay language acts as a mediator in the relationship between attitudes toward ICT adoption and the adoption of the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) among secondary school Malay Language teachers. Methodology/Technique – TAM is the basis theory in this quantitative study which uses a questionnaire to collect the data. The population of the study comprises of 410 secondary school teachers in Selangor by applying various probability sampling procedures. The research instrument was adapted from a previous questionnaire and pilot study which shows an alpha Cronbach at .81. Software of Smart-PLS was used to analyse the results of the study. Objective-This research aims to explore whether the intention of ICT adoption in teaching Malay language acts as a mediator in the relationship between attitudes toward ICT adoption and the adoption of the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) among secondary school Malay Language teachers. Methodology/Technique-TAM is the basis theory in this quantitative study which uses a questionnaire to collect the data. The population of the study comprises of 410 secondary school teachers in Selangor by applying various probability sampling procedures. The research instrument was adapted from a previous questionnaire and pilot study which shows an alpha Cronbach at .81. Software of Smart-PLS was used to analyse the results of the study. Findings-The mediator analysis showed a positive and significant direct relationship (β = .067, p <.05) between attitude and the adoption of VLE. The findings obtained in the analysis of indirect relationships and direct relationships clearly indicate that the intention of ICT adoption acts as partial mediator if the impression of indirect contact with the effects of direct relationships was significant. Novelty-In summary, the significant relationship between attitudes toward adoption and the intention of ICT adoption and adoption of VLE suggest that intention acts as a mediator.

This study was conducted to produce empirical evidence of validity and reliability of Teacher's Perception of Intention to Adopt Virtual Learning Environment questionnaire. Questionnaire drawn from the results of previous studies and the validity of the tests will determine whether all aspects of the construct domain were represented, thus ensuring the high objectivity level of the questionnaire. In addition, an alternative approach in Partial Lease Square (PLS) was used to assess the discriminant validity, using heterotrait-monotrait ratio of correlations. The study empirically proves that the questionnaire used is unchanged by culture. This is important because if not, its use will be restricted to a population in which the questionnaire was developed.

Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) has become the main mechanism in supporting on-line education either in primary or secondary school. Although VLE efforts are considered to be a significant corporate investment, many surveys indicate high drop-out rates or failures. This research uses an integrated model in order to assessing the influence of IS-oriented, psychological and behavioral factors on instructors' adoption of virtual learning systems. Survey data collected from 76 pre-school teachers were analyzed using structural equation modeling to examine the theoretical model. The research results show that, perceived ease of use and compatibility increase pre-school teachers intention to use virtual learning systems; however, perceived ease of use is the most important factor affecting on intention and actual use of the system (adoption).
The Acceptance of VLEs (Virtual Learning Environments) by Primary School Teachers
Proceedings of the 8th International Conference on Computer Supported Education, 2016
This article presents a study on the conditions of use of a VLE (Virtual Learning Environment) by primary school teachers. To this end, we used research related to activity theory and implemented qualitative methods (individual and collective interviews). Our study describes how teachers (8 participants) perceived the role of the VLE in the evolution of their working practices (maintaining, transforming or restricting existent practices), in their relationship with parents and in the follow-up of their students.
A study of virtual learning environments (VLEs) adoption: an information system approach
Journal of Physics: Conference Series, 2019
The study aims to examine students’ adoption towards a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). Using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) as the theoretical framework, the study mainly focuses on the degree that perceived usefulness, and perceive ease of use has influence on students’ adoption towards Easy Class as the Virtual Learning Environment. The research used a quantitative approach. A questionnaire has been employed as an instrument to gather data from 2 classes in a private university in North Sumatera. The research found that perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use have a significant effect on the students’ adoption. At the end of the paper, the implications as well as the suggestion for future study are explained.
