Virtual Learning Environment and Information Literacy: Concept, Contents and Cases
crl.du.ac.in
The paper explores the concept of information literacy (IL) in the context of emerging virtual learning environment. It describes various models of IL and course contents through some cases. Information literacy instruction is alive and functional on campuses today. IL needs to be treated differently form the usual programmes, e.g. library orientation bibliographic instructions, provided earlier by libraries to acquaint users with information resources. IL should aim to, help users to reach their information but also to help them to organize, synthesize, evaluat and, use ethically.
Communication Technologies and Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) in Teaching Literature
International Journal of Innovation, Management and Technology, 2013
Information communication technologies have changed on human life, especially educational systems and methods of instructions. They have changed teachers' methods, learning styles, and contents of the courses. This paper introduces some of the most useful of such technologies in teaching English literature. As a case study such technologies have been used in teaching different genres. The results indicated a great improvement in students' learning, moreover the feedback was positive as such technologies resulted in an easier and more tangible understanding from the students' side, moreover the teachers' feedback was positive as it eased their teaching process.

Purpose-The main objective of this study is to explore the role of e-learning and its impact on higher education. Given the novelty of the experience, in this study, the researchers aim to investigate university students' perception and satisfaction regarding e-learning. The study also examines the importance of e-learning, identifies the problems faced by students while using e-learning and provides suggestions on how the university authority can improve e-learning more effectively. Methods of the study-Survey method was employed to understand the usage and impact of elearning among the students at the University of Rajshahi in Bangladesh. Due to the pandemic situation of 2020, online social platforms were used and the questionnaires were circulated among 110 students from four departments of Social Science Faculty in Rajshahi University conveniently. Findings-The study shows that the overall feeling about e-The Role of E-learning and its Impact on Higher Education Basak et al. (2023) 2 learning is a good and robust predictor of the students' overall satisfaction. The study examines that the majority of the students (51.8%) use e-learning for finding general information, and for accessing e-learning majority of the students (62.7%) always use the smartphone. Wi-Fi is more preferable to the students (47%) for accessing connection of elearning. 58.2% of respondents identified Technical issues as the main problem of e-learning. Limitations-Rajshahi University is the second largest public University in Bangladesh where around 28000 students are studied in the postgraduate program in each year. In order to conduct this study only 110 students are regarded as sample and have come under investigation which remarks as the core limitation of this study. Besides, researchers and teachers play a vital role in this university. But they are not included as sample in this study. Originality/value-The paper contains original work regarding the role of e-learning and its impact on higher education among the students of Rajshahi University of Bangladesh and as such it will be useful for library professionals, administrators, and educators to develop suitable strategies as higher study institutions.
We learn things when we study but understood them when we do it practically. Slowly education system understood this need and many of the areas are revamped and new student centric and project based learning are introduced in the existing curriculum. With regard to the other fields, Library and information science (LIS) profession, its curriculum and learning approach should be transformed to new Information and communication technology (ICT) based style of teaching and learning. Virtual learning environment (VLE) is one of the best solutions to get quality out of the education and to produce more gen ready information specialist and not merely librarians. This paper endeavours to discuss the need of VLE in the present LIS education, its pros and cons and also some issues that one will face while implementing it for university, college, or any educational institute.
Fulfillments and Failures of Virtual Learning Environment (VLE): A Systematic Review
2024
Recent studies have investigated the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) in the higher education institutions in the different countries but there is still limited empirical evidence on what effect this to the student's satisfaction. By promoting collaboration and communication among students, virtual learning environments (VLEs) enhance student engagement and academic achievement. Today's generation now views social media platforms, cell phones, and the internet as normal hardware and software due to technological breakthroughs. It is used by educators and students to exchange documents, videos, and homework; family circumstances affect pupils' attention spans, the availability of learning materials, and their participation in online learning. In order to encourage the use of VLEs and maintain their effectiveness, academes must provide learning materials to them without any technological delays or obstacles. Technology that regularly has technical problems and has a slow reaction time will discourage students from enrolling in virtual classrooms. This will be taken into account when assessing whether or not the students accomplished the learning objectives especially during the pandemic.

This study investigated the effectiveness of virtual learning environment features for online Teaching, Learning and Assessment in all colleges of the Royal University of Bhutan. A mixed methods, parallel convergent design was adopted for this study. A total of 155 academics and 650 students participated in online survey questionnaires and 22 academic and 43 students responded to the online semi-structured interview questions. The auto-generated reports of VLE usage of 93 modules across the colleges were analysed to validate the findings on the usage of VLE features by academics from qualitative and quantitative data. The results showed that the academics' overall experience of using VLE for online teaching was positive whereas the majority of the students found it a challenging learning experience. While the academics were found to be competent in using only basic VLE features for online teaching, the students' perceptions of their tutors' competencies in online teaching were diverse ranging from very experienced to a beginner. Both the academics and students found learning through VLE not very effective as assessment and giving feedback online requires previous experience, sound IT knowledge and adequate resources. The results also showed that both academics and students were generally satisfied with the ICT facilities and resources in the colleges. However, students have experienced major constraints such as internet connectivity, financial support, IT facilities, power fluctuation and household chores while learning online from homes. Generally, they have found online learning through VLE as a new enriching opportunity to learn ICT tools, communication skills and social skills for collaborative online learning.

Students' Attitudes toward ICT and VLE in Basic Education
World Conference on Educational Multimedia, …, 2009
The use of ICT has been increasing in Finnish primary and secondary schools over the last decade, but the possibilities of new technology are still not being used in favor of pedagogical changes. One of the key factors in implementing new technology in schools is how motivated students are in using it: do they see the benefits of new tools in promoting their learning? The aim of this study was to investigate how students in Finnish basic education see the use of ICT and the virtual learning environment (VLE) in terms of their learning and motivation. The data was collected by an online questionnaire, to which 758 students responded. The analysis of the data revealed that successful and more motivated students were more positive in their attitudes toward ICT and the use of VLE. Older students' attitudes toward ICT and VLE were less positive, as was their motivation to study.

Learning process is a mind process in that information is transformed into knowledge. Some professorshave interest to add new technologies to teaching practice; however, the Virtual learning is not used in its full power because it is not well-known and there is a large amount of professors who do not use it due to habit to his/her usual teaching methods besides presuming that its use may compromise his/her educational practices somehow and also because he/she will be frequently being tested about how the contents are shown. This paper discusses about this perception and some clues to improve a better use of this technology. I. Picture 1.Trends in the use os ICTs for Teaching (Lopes & Gomes, 2007) 2 .
