Indonesia is the country affected by the COVID-19 virus. One of the cities that became epicentrum of the spread of the Covid-19 virus is DKI Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia. Therefore, the Government enacted PSBB (Large-Scale Social Restrictions) DKI Jakarta policy on April 10, 2020 to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus. However, the government's decision to impose a policy of PSBB reaps the pros and cons. The purpose of this research is to identify the news about the Pro Cons of PSBB DKI Jakarta in both online media editions from April 7 to May 30, 2020. By using The Framing Theory of Robert N. Entman Model, with qualitative approach. Based on the problem formulation in this study, researchers found detik.com and Kompas.com framing in presenting a news story. Detik.com one of the media that is counter, while Kompas.com is a media pro to PSBB policy in DKI Jakarta. The ideology used by detik.com is the economy, it can be seen through the perspective of the media Detik.com that emphasize of economic growth. Meanwhile Kompas.com healthcare ideology by supporting policies and paying attention to the health of community.
Framing of COVID-19 in German and Indonesian News

News discourse concerning COVID-19 is currently a trending topic in the world since it has affected world economic sector. Moreover this pandemic that has taken place since March 2020 has become a lively headline for discussion because of the massive transmission of the virus with an increasing number of infected people every day. This outbreak caused. The mass media from each country has a various way of producing news about COVID-19. It will be differently interpreted based on the diverse perspectives. News media plays an active role on framing COVID-19 issues. Since the news production is cultural and political based, it will be interested to compare the news framing of 2 countries with different cultural and political background. Therefore this research aims to compare how the German and Indonesian online media on framing news themed COVID-19. The data are related news from selected by related keywords through search engine. The framing theory from Pan and Kosicki (1993) is adopted to analyse the data. The findings reveal that German media frames COVID-19 as a new health problem that must be solved scientifically. Meanwhile Indonesian media frames this virus as a new financial problem.

As a reliable means for the public, mass media is a critical medium to be used to disseminate information predominantly in crisis. At the end of 2019, the world faced a new pandemic, later known as the COVID-19 pandemic, after scientists identified the virus that caused this infection. The media coverage of this cause accelerated and became more expansive after the spread of a group of shocking pictures of infected cases who died on the roads and streets due to this disease. The spread of the COVID-19 outbreak caused by the novel coronavirus across continents has also garnered Indonesian media attention from a variety of perspectives. As a national newspaper, KOMPAS has regularly reported on the coronavirus that has spread from Wuhan, China since January 2020. The aim of this paper is to investigate where the media places responsibility for COVID-19 in Indonesia. KOMPAS newspaper articles have been sampled from 12 January to 18 May 2020. Investigators collected 30 news samples between January and May of 2020. The news samples were then categorized into three big themes, namely (1) prevention strategies; (2) outbreak management; and (3) the communication strategy for further analysis using reality construction theory to determine how KOMPAS narrated the COVID-19 outbreak that happened in Indonesia. As preliminary findings, the role of the media is very crucial to oversee the government to make optimal efforts in the detection, monitoring and management of handling COVID-19. In addition, the media plays a major role in shaping public perceptions of the health risks of COVID-19. However, on the other hand, some people get fed up with news related COVID-19. This is because the viewpoint of writing presented in the media considered it haunting and put pressure on the public.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui framing pemberitaan media online terhadap kebijakan Pemerintah Provinsi Jawa Barat dalam penanganan Covid-19 khususnya pada media online Tirto.id, Tempo.co, dan Republika.id. Online News Coverage of COVID-19 in the Philippines: A Media Framing Study

This study explored how the COVID-19 pandemic was framed in the Philippine media during its initial stage. Specifically, it determined the dominant frames and tones used and identified emerging themes in the online news coverage of the COVID-19 pandemic. Using qualitative content analysis, 72 online news articles published from March 1 to April 30, 2020, from the websites of the three chosen media companies-ABS-CBN News, GMA News, and INQUIRER.net were analyzed. The news articles were sampled using a consecutive 6-day sampling technique. Additionally, 18 news articles were purposively chosen from the total samples to examine emerging themes further. A contextualized news article analysis form was used to determine the dominant frames and tones, and the techniques of open and axial coding were used to identify emerging themes manually. The result shows that the dominant frame and tone were the human interest frame and neutral tone, respectively. Further, five themes emerged from the analysis: Scientific Accounts, Misinformation and Fake News, Discrimination and Harassment, New Normal, and Community Support. The findings provide significant insights into how COVID-19 was framed in the Philippine media. It also revealed possible unique themes Filipino journalists use in presenting health crises.
FRAMING THE COVID-19 RESPONSE: A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF MANILA BULLETIN AND RAPPLER

This study compared Manila Bulletin’s and Rappler’s framing of the Philippine Government’s COVID-19 Response. The two news outlets’ articles from 2021 with the term ‘COVID-19 Response’ and ‘pandemic response’ in the title were selected for this study. The study employed a descriptive design. Descriptive statistics and t-test were used to compare Manila Bulletin’s and Rappler’s framing of the Philippine Government’s COVID-19 Response. This study revealed that Manila Bulletin and Rappler both used the Responsibility frame the most in their articles. Additionally, Rappler did not use the Morality/Religion frame as much as compared to Manila Bulletin. On average, they generally had a more positive tone in their frames. However, Manila Bulletin tended to frame in a positive manner while Rappler framed negatively. Thus, considering their difference in tone, the study recommends that when reading news articles on a particular topic, especially involving politics, they read from various news outlets. Framing Analysis: Corona Virus News on Kompas.Com

This research aims to dig deeper into how Kompas.com framing the news of Corona Virus and also analyze the news value. It applies qualitative approach and Robert N Entman Framing analysis method as the picture of social phenomena in Corona Virus news. Kompas.com is chosen as the research subject, while the news of Corona Virus on March to April 2020 become the research object. The data are collected by using documentation technique and purposive sampling, selecting sample based on characteristics perceived as representing to be used in this research. The sample consists of 38 news. The results shows that in reporting Corona Virus, Kompas.com create diverse narrations in order attract news readers to the information's reported. There are two visible elements, impact and Human Interest. Kompas.com always sets forth ideology of capitalist economy in framing over the news of Corona Virus. However, Kompas.com is trying to wrap the news content with a polite and wise language to guard its professionalism as a mass media which accentuates universal, intelligence, and professionalism value.
