This paper is written for the purpose of comparing the difference between private and public banks by taking top Indian Public and private banks and using certain parameters which are very valuable for a bank. We know the banking sector is any country is the backbone of the economy. But in the case of country like India it's the soul. Just because the nature of Indian population and the economic condition they heavily depend on banks to boast the economic activities. In this study top 3 banks from both public and private sectors where taken as they are leaders in the banking industry in terms of reach and data was extracted from the annual report from 2016 to 2020. Statistical techniques where used to interpret the data. This study revealed even with the vast difference in resources how private banks are performing way better then public banks. The study has done proper literature gap review and explored the area which was not done before. This will very helpful for managers and researchers to take a look at the whole sector as one and see and find out what fundamentally can be done further in this area.

Commercial banks are the very significant financial institutions that are the backbone of all the economic activities in the country. They play an important role by providing credit to people by mobilizing savings and financing various economic related activities. These banks accept deposits from public and provide credits to the business firms and individuals in an economy. The basic role of commercial banks is to mobilize financial resources to meet the financial demands of various productive sectors of economy especially in rural areas. In other words, Banks have catalyst role in economic development because banks control a large part of supply of money in circulation by providing finance for the Improvement of Agriculture and various Consumers Activities in Rural India. At present The study investigates the role of commercial banks in financing the rural entrepreneurs and how it helpful in economic development selected areas like industry sector and agriculture sector in rural areas of Ranga Reddy District of Telangana State. This Study basically used cross tabulation, T test and ANOVA to find the difference in lending pattern and risk perception of Public Sector Bank (SBI) and Other Commercial Banks (AXIS Bank). The Study concluded that there is no significant difference in risk perception of public sector banks and nonpublic sector banks, as p>0.05 i.e. 0.97, t (28) =0.157, p = 0.876. Further there is significant difference in lending pattern of banks to rural entrepreneurs and public sector banks contribute more towards financing rural entrepreneurs in Ranga Reddy District of Telangana State
