Objective: three scales were chosen prognostic patient burned validated in the international literature (ABSI, BAUX, and DEMI) to compare with a new scale known (UN) in the pediatric burn the Misericordia hospital Foundation. (Bogota, Colombia). To determine which of these is most effective as a predictor of infection, other complications no infectious and death.
Methods: a project to validate a prognostic scale in reliability and power, nested in a cohort ambispectiva (retrospective-prospective). With a total population of 461 pediatric patients distributed as follows: 300 patients in the retrospective cohort and 161 patients in the prospective cohort. For 461 the patients were applied the four scales to determine the prognostic power of each of the variables in the scales analyzed by the study.
Results and conclusions: the scale was designed by the research group is valid, showing an adequate statistical power to predict the outcomes raised.
In analyzing the most significant variables in the scale proposed by the study found that there is 9 times greater risk of infection if burn in perineal region, 13 times greater risk of death if the extent of the burn is grade III, 15 times greater risk death if the patient requires mechanical ventilation and 20 times greater risk of death if you have toxic shock or septic shock.
Finally we propose a new prognostic scale (UN modi ed) with more power in predicting the outcomes raised.

In development of new technologies, it reevaluates the most effective therapy with the new resources available, as made components capable of optimize results wearing a more innovative andeffective treatment.
Emerging new knowledge about the properties of enzymes derived from plant Anna pineapple tree, starts a window of opportunity for medical use, particularly in the treatment of burn patients who may be benefited by the advantages of these enzymes compared to those currently it is in the use.
Due to the characteristics of enzymes derived from anana pineapple, and its effectiveness as enzymatic debriding, data collection debriding enzyme obtained from bromelain whose source is the natural or Pineapple Ananais performed. Its use may be topically destined to burn patients with eschar, as an enzymatic debriding agent.
Qualities of proteolytic enzyme debriding derived from Ananas pineapples for use in the first stage of healing the burned patient is exposed, without achieving results previously reached with the techniques used until now.
