— Particle size distribution (PSD) affects the properties of granular materials and is used for designating their quality and performance. Traditionally, the determination of particle size distribution derived from mechanical system (sieving) is a time consuming method and difficult to measure the cohesive and food materials. At present, the image analyses techniques are used to determine the particle size distribution especially for cohesive and agglomerated particles. In this work, the particle size distributions of three grades of sago pearls are investigated by using the image analysis methods. Three grades of sago pearls are experimentally obtained from the innovative sago sizing mechanism by the different rotational speeds of bowl. The mixed shapes of particles including elliptical and spherical on particle size distribution are investigated. It is observed that, the median particle size is between 7.0 mm to 8.0 mm at lowest rotational speed and 2.0 mm to 3.0 mm at highest rotational speed of the mechanism.

Durante o período de 2011-2014, cinco novos partidos foram fundados no Brasil. As origens destas organizações são distintas, bem como seus principais “patrocinadores”: desde movimentos sociais ou políticos com mandato, até esforços quase individuais de seus líderes. Para este trabalho nosso objetivo é responder a questão:como se organizam estes novos partidos? Partindo da literatura que dá conta do surgimento de novos partidos em democracias consolidadas e emergentes, propomos, neste trabalho exploratório, realizar: a) análise das origens dos partidos; b) o recrutamento parlamentar; c) estruturação das Executivas Estaduais; d) capilaridade organizacional. O surgimento e consolidação, ou enfraquecimento, de novas organizações partidárias, afinal de contas,tem impacto sobre padrões de representação do sistema partidário.

In a distributed generation system, divers renewable agents are connected to the low voltage 3 phase utility grid by an inverter which is used as power condition and must assurance the higher efficiency of the renewable agent. To achieve this level of efficiency, a unitary power factor between the utility grid voltages and the inverter currents is necessary, and a synchronization algorithm is required for the perfect synchronization between the 3-phase utility grid and the renewable agent. The aim of this paper is to present the optimization of the performance of a Synchronization controller for a 3-phase photovoltaic grid-connected system, assessing its accuracy under different conditions and studying their drawbacks and advantages. A grid connected photovoltaic system with a nominal power of 5 kW is used so as to assess the behavior of the synchronization algorithm when the 3 phase utility grid is affected by some disturbances such as voltage unbalances.

Magnesium gluconate is an organometallic pharmaceutical/nutraceutical used for the prevention and treatment of various diseases caused by the low level of magnesium. The aim of the present study was to investigate the influence of The Trivedi Effect® - Energy of Consciousness Healing Treatment (Biofield Energy Healing) on the physicochemical, thermal, structural, and behavioral properties of magnesium gluconate using powder PXRD, PSD, FT-IR, UV-visible, TGA, and DSC analysis. Magnesium gluconate was divided into two parts - one part was denoted as the control, while the another part was treated with The Trivedi Effect® remotely by eighteen renowned Biofield Energy Healers and defined as the Trivedi Effect® Treated sample. The PXRD analysis exhibited the significant alteration of the crystal morphology of the treated sample compared with the control sample. The crystallite size of the treated sample was significantly altered from -39.99% to 62.57% compared with the control sample. The average crystallite size of the treated sample was decreased by 9.71% compared with the control sample. Particle size of the treated sample at d10, d50, and d90 value was significantly increased by 5.36%, 23.10% and 11.11%, respectively compared with the control sample. The surface area of the treated sample was significantly decreased by 9.76% compared to the control sample. The FT-IR and UV-vis analysis showed that the structural characteristic of the magnesium gluconate remained same in the treated sample compared with control sample. The TGA data revealed that the weight loss of the treated sample in the first and third steps of degradation was increased by 31.58% and 5.94%, respectively, whereas in the second step of degradation, the weight loss was decreased by 7.57% compared with the control sample. The DSC analysis showed that the melting point of the control and treated samples were at 170.29°C and 169.76°C, respectively. The latent heat of fusion of the treated sample was increased by 4.18% compared with the control sample. The current study evaluated that The Trivedi Effect® - Energy of Consciousness Healing Treatment might lead to a new polymorphic form of the magnesium gluconate, which could be more soluble, powder flowability and long-term storage stability compared with the control sample. Hence, the Trivedi Effect® Treated magnesium gluconate would be very useful to design better nutraceutical and/or pharmaceutical formulations that might provide better therapeutic response against inflammatory diseases, immunological disorders, and other chronic infections.

In Cognitive radio (CR) applications Ultra-wideband (UWB) impulse radio (IR) signals can be designed such as they can co-exist with licensed primary users. The pulse shape should be adjusted such that the power spectral characteristics not only meet the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) constrains, but also mitigate multiple narrow-band interference at the locations of existing primary users. In this paper, the Parks-McClellan (PM) Algorithm and the Eigen Value Decomposition (EVD) approach for UWB impulse radio waveform shaping are considered. The power spectral density (PSD) and the bit-error-rate (BER) performance of the two methods are compared in the presence of single and double narrow-band interference (NBI). The interference rejection capabilities of the two methods are evaluated and compared for different interference and additive noise levels. In particular, the simulations consider the coexistence of practical IEEE 802.15.4a UWB systems with both IEEE 802.11 wireless LAN systems operating at 5.2 GHz and radio location services operating at 8.5 GHz.

Absolute cell deviation has been used as a proxy for preserving data quality in statistical disclosure limitation for tabular data. However, users’ primary interest is that analytical properties of the data are for the most part preserved, meaning that the values of key statistics are nearly unchanged. Moreover, important relationships within (additivity) and between (correlation) the published tables should also be unaffected. Previous work demonstrated how to preserve additivity, mean and variance in for univariate tabular data. In this paper, we bridge the gap between statistics and mathematical programming to propose nonlinear and linear models based on constraint satisfaction to preserve additivity and covariance, correlation, and regression coefficient between data tables. Linear models are superior than nonlinear models owing to simplicity, flexibility and computational speed. Simulations demonstrate the models perform well in terms of preserving key statistics with reasonable accuracy.

The salt can reason severe difficulties like fouling, corrosion using salt deposition, and catalyst poisoning in the downstream parts. This study presents a modification process for improving the efficiency of dehydration in a desalting unit. The main purpose of this investigation is to substitute the mixing valve with an electrical mixing system. Process configuration was modeled in addition to the electrostatic desalting drum. Based on this model, it is affirmed that modification is capable to increase the efficiency of dehydration. The models are designed according to the population balance technique to predict water cut in treated crude oil. To improve the considered model accuracy, the consequences are compared to industrial data of the mixing valve. The comparison between the results gained by the mixing valve and the electric mixing system proves the superiority of the suggested tool. Furthermore, the results indicate the electric field strength optimum value in the mixing step to attaining minimum water cut in treated crude oil.
