Without pretending to do a comprehensive and extensive presentation, this work was prepared as an introduction to the theological and historical basis for the commitment to Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation on the part of Secular Franciscans and Franciscan Youth. It adresses the following foundational aspects of such an important and timely commitment: 1. The call from the Scriptures, 2. Catholic Social Teachings – Social Doctrine of the Church 3. Catholic Church’s Institutional Developments, and 4. Franciscan basis. The target group for this work was the 81 participants at the 5TH OFS and YouFra Asia-Oceania Congress, held in Bali, Indonesia, from April 20-27, 2017.
