Writer/director James Gray is not known for making films that elicit an emotional response. He�s a technical moviemaker who always seems to enjoy the process of production more than the urgency of storytelling, but he�s made some wonderful pictures during his lengthy career. He was last seen on the Moon in 2019�s �Ad Astra,� a space adventure that explored the strange ways of fathers and sons, and he returns to Earth for another round of patriarchal influence in �Armageddon Time,� which takes viewers to the bleak days of 1980, when Ronald Reagan was about to assume control of the United States ...read more...
