Back Page (1933) (original) (raw)
Sam Webster is in danger of losing The Apex Advocate, the small town journal which he has edited for over thirty-five years, to hated business rival Martin Blake. He hires pretty young editor Jerry Hampton, to shake things up and increase circulation, hopefully before his loan comes due. The Advocates' headlines begin to sizzle and advertising sales and readership go way up. But when Jerry uncovers a story revealing that Martin Blake may be behind a phony oil scheme that has fleeced the citizens of Apex for a fortune, Blake pulls out all of the stops to silence The Advocate once and for all.
