British Army Captain Hugh 'Bulldog' Drummond (Ronald Colman), a retired World War I veteran, is approached by a young woman (Joan Bennett) who is convinced that her uncle is being held prisoner and tortured in a "nursing home." With both his friend Algy (Claud Allister) and his valet along for the ride, Drummond investigates the case. Colman and Bennett both made their talking debuts in this film; Colman received a Best Actor Oscar nomination for his performance.
