It takes a special viewer curiosity to find the mood of �French Exit,� which is intended to be a dark comedy about powerful feelings. Actually, it�s more of an endurance test, but an intermittently flavorful one from director Azazel Jacobs (�The Lovers,� �Terri�), who�s constructing something mannered to best support the material�s sense of humor and mystery. Jacobs creates a pretty picture, enjoying the sights and sounds of European living, but his effort to decode Patrick deWitt�s screenplay (an adaptation of his own 2018 book) isn�t entirely successful, finding the feature cold to the touch ...read more...
