A rancher has been illegally taking wild horses from Government lands with the hopes of selling them. Using his own horse to stir up the wild herd, the rancher hopes to get the Government to lift their ban on rounding up and selling the horses. The Three Mesquiteers, arrive in town to solve the murder of the local sheriff and to uncover the rancher's plans.
