Home invasion stories typically venture into thriller territory, following the fight between criminals and innocents caught up in a dangerous cat and mouse situation. Making her directorial debut, Maria Bissell tries for something quirkier with �How to Deter a Robber,� which provides some level of tension featuring villains breaking into a home, but primarily prefers a more casual understanding of conflict.
