GAL is helplessly adrift in her own life. But after a mysterious call from her estranged father, POP, Gal journeys out into the Atchafalaya Basin to check in on her father, who has been living in seclusion on a houseboat as a Cajun faith healer. Once on his houseboat, Gal makes a disturbing discovery: the corpse of a mysterious young woman tucked into his bed. Upon further investigation, Gal discovers that Pop, delusional and bereaved, believes this mystery woman�s corpse to be that of his late wife and Gal�s mother, MAW, who died three years prior. Struggling with how to manage their strained bond, Gal reluctantly joins Pop on his journey across the Basin to bury his �wife� in the family plot, hoping she can snap him back to reality in the process. What follows is a literal and spiritual journey across the Atchafalaya Basin where both Gal and her father are forced to reckon with the grief they�ve been trying so desperately to suppress. (less)
