When Paula Marlowe learns boyfriend Mark Fenton represents Don Elliott, theatrical producer Stephen Elliott's nephew, the actress two-times Mark and begins seeing Don, hoping to score a role in his uncle's play. After landing a part, Paula quickly trades up to Stephen, weaving a web of romantic deception that pulls Mark, Don, and Stephen into a dangerous spiral of jealousy, betrayal, and murder.
