The Padre, a small-time con man on the run from his dogged pursuers, U.S. Court Justice Nemes and local police officer Gaspar. When the Padre is caught mid-con, he flees the scene in a stolen car, unaware that a precocious 16-year-old girl, Lena, is stowing away in the back seat. After she blackmails him into letting her join his journey, the duo plan their biggest heist yet - not always aware of the dangers of working with each other and the law closing in on them.

Director Jonathan Sobol was last seen in theaters with �The Art of the Steal,� a heist comedy that tried to play in the same sandbox Guy Ritchie and Steven Soderbergh often reside in. The results weren�t perfect, but the picture maintained appeal, eased along with a lively sense of mischief (having Kurt Russell around certainly helped). Sobol sobers up some with �The Padre,� a darker take on the manhunt routine that never wants to play as bleak as it initially seems.
