Tara (Wright), the most irresistible woman in a small Irish village, is also the most scorned, when she refuses to reveal the identity of her baby's father. Under pressure by Constable Hegarty (Finney) to accept his hand in marriage, Tara rejects his proposal and falls instead for a dashing actor (Quinn).
