Talented L.A. poetess Kalindra confides her desire to leave her abusive husband Ronnie to her best friend Daphne. Meanwhile, she falls into a forbidden romance with haunted spoken-word artist Curtis, who is determined to reconnect with his estranged daughter. In time, Curtis gives Kalindra the courage to pursue her dreams on the stages of New York City.
