Michael Jai White has been steadily building a directorial career over the last 14 years, periodically taking control of his action movies. His last effort was 2023�s �Outlaw Johnny Black,� a mediocre attempt to continue what 2009�s delightful �Black Dynamite� started, with White going weirdly bloated with his light comedy, unable to recapture the same magic. �Trouble Man� finds White returning to the Blaxploitation subgenre, now with an acceptable run time (90 minutes) and a more direct script by Michael Stradford.
