A special category of intransitive verbs is that of the so-called impersonal verbs, as expressing an action or condition not attributable to a person or animal, or thing determined. These verbs are used only in the third person singular of the various times and in the infinitive. For example: piove, nevica, tuonare etc NOTE: We call "intransitive verbs" those that express an action that is not going to an object, but remains in the subject. Ex: Si mangia (indeterminate subject, impersonal form and intransitive verb), Carlo corre (determinate subject, personal form and intransitive verb), Il cane abbaia ( determinate subject, personal form and intransitive verb). " Li si mangia "is transitive because the object is expressed (Li). So it is not impersonal (it is indeterminate but personal and transitive) and therefore it must be said: " Li si mangiano".
