I disagree the statement. Getting married to a person that has totally different habbits or outlook on life may be an opportunity to get to know new things and try new experiences. Sometimes it seems people look for people that are similar to them because they are too narcisistic. I have met individuals who get to feel attracted by people who likes the same book authors they do. This is a blatant example of someone trying to find her or himself in someone else. I think it must be much more interesting to share a life with someone who will bring a lot of novelty to it. Nevertheless, learning new things from the different significant other doesn't mean to get to become his or her copy. However, I believe that it is impossible to say that someone is simetrically different from another one, unless actually the sterotypes of those persons are being discussed. People are not sterotypes, therefore the most different individuals will probably share tastes and habbits. In the other hand, individuals who are apparently very similar to each other may disagree in some points that are utterly important to both of them. Thus in the end people always wind up getting married with different people who are similar to them; or with similar, but different people.
