In Ireland, the abortion law (avortement) is one of the more restrictive law in the world…
Actually, abortion is considerate as a murder in Ireland. So, this is prohibted even if women or young girl were rapted, even if the foetus can’t survived during the pragnacy, and even if there is a case of incest. Today three quarters of the irsh population want that this laws change. And yet, many young people are pro life and tries hard with their campaign, so that they make women ashamed deal with abortion issue.
In order to illustrate the question of the abortion in Ireland, I’ve chosen a pro abortion article, and Ines a pro life article.
This article is extracted from the web site of Amnesty international, the non-governmental organisation focused on human right. This article is entitled « Protesters demand urgent law reform as Northern Ireland woman faces charges for using ‘abortion pills’ ». It was publishing during the last mounth, the 15 january 2016.
So, this article denounce the irish laws wich prohibite the abortion for irish women violating women and girls' human rights, as has been established in Belfast’s High Court during december 2015.
This article call this abortions laws as « cruel and outdated ».
Futher more, Amnesty international criticizes the fact of a woman can endures 14 years of imprisonment if she tries to aborted with the « abortion pill’s ». It was explain that the abortion pill’s consist of unlawfully taking poisonous substance in order to terminate the pregnancy.
Then, this section underline the fact that the irish abortion’s laws make women suffered and lead them to make their lives at risk.
To sum up this article is a part of an Amnesty international’s campaign called “my body, my right”. This campaign aims to empower women to claim their reproductive and sexual rights.
In my opinion, this Irish laws are terrifying and don’t esteem the body and the rights of the woman.
For me this law is a catholic heritage wich considere that the only role of woman is making childs.
