To be a cultural ambassador means to present your country with its cultural traditions and values as impersonal (can I use this word here? ) as possible. Being cultural ambassador is not only about making a turgid speech (is it okay to use this expression or it’s informal? ) about your home country, but also to establish a dialogue between two different cultures. It’s necessary to find as many things they have in common as possible to reduce these differences to a minimum. Taking into consideration distinct historical backgrounds of the two countries, an ambassador should pay attention to the history of Russia and the USA. The best way to provide people with all this information is a lecture. It should start with a brief history of Russia and the major events that have influenced the future course of history and had a direct impact on the formation of the Russian national character.
Series of stereotypes associated with Russia and Russian also worth mentioning during the lecture, in order to draw parallels with what stereotypes exist in Russia about the USA and Americans. Clichés often cause misunderstandings between people of different cultures, as well as any prejudices, stereotypes prevent people from adequate perception of reality and the perception of the culture of the country of the studied language. (personally I don’t like all these Of, how can I change the phrase? )
As a cultural ambassador you should not present your country as a perfect one, but as a unique one so it’s very important to tell about places of interest in your motherland and some things that are very special personally for your. I believe that it would be really nice to tell about your home city, the street you grew up at and various kinds of experience you had being the citizen of your country.
