It's been a while since I've written a retrospective, huh? I'm personally really proud of this concept and idea I've came up with, even if it's a bit cringeworthy. When I was growing up, I was introduced to the world of video games through flash games on the computer and on the internet. My first console was a Nintendo DS, and I still like video games and especially good stories to this day. When I was younger, I was interested in Sonic. Why am I bringing HIM up in a Mario retrospective? You see, Sonic games often have a "secret boss fight" or "secret true ending" once you fufill certain requirements. THAT BLEW MY MIND AS A KID. Not only were the games good and fun, but they had an awesome STORY?!?! SECRETS TO FIND?! HIDDEN LORE?!!?! You don't get that just by playing Pong or Connect Four!!! (Oh god I now sound like you know who) When I watched a playthrough of the first Paper Mario for the Nintendo 64, I was a bit disappointed on how...... bare-bones and safe the story was. It
(Screaming Internally) You can probably tell from my earlier reaction to this piece that things are....... ugh. I'm so ashamed. I'm starting to realize now after writing a few of these retrospectives that my first piece was probably cursed or something. Did I sell my soul or something? I really, REALLY hope I didn't. If you all are confused, my first work was "My Underwater Love" and I now DESPISE that piece. There are many problems there that are just NOT GOOD. And the bad news? A lot of those flaws have bled into this piece. I don't want to sound like a broken record again, so if you want to see what kind of problems plagued this story, you can see my retrospective on "My Underwater Love" that was written on 9/29/2024. Goddamnit, here we go again. (I apologize for my cussing. Please forgive me. X_X) This is another one of my...... problematic pieces. That's was I call this piece. A problem. That may be a bit harsh, but...... When I was first writing this piece, I wanted to go back to what made my first piece, "My Underwater Love." BIG mistake. A lot of that piece's problems have reared their ugly heads in this piece. I don't like those elements of this story. This might be a shorter retrospective than usual, but it's mostly because I don't have much to say about this piece or some other reason. Heck, I don't know if it's better to have longer or shorter retrospectives on things. A few words go a long way, you know? In any case, if you did like this piece, thank you for your support.
