Toni (2008-2024)3 days agoOur sweet, much beloved family dog, Toni, passed away yesterday morning at 16. His health had been declining for some time, so it wasn't unexpected. Despite it all, he spent most of his long old age with the same energy and zest for life that so characterized him. But in these last few days, that same life was at last taking its toll. He was ill and tired. It was time. But that didn't make saying goodbye any easier.Maybe it's become cliche to proclaim that one's dog is the best one in the world. But really, Toni was such a perfect fit for us...a perfect fit for me. He was shy, weary of strangers, and not a fan of crowds. He was quirky, smart, and liked his routine. With us, the people he was comfortable with, he was endlessly loving, sweet, and fun to be around. I've never met or had a dog with whom I related so much. I was 15 when we adopted Toni. He saw me through most of my teens. He saw me go into highschool. He watched me grow into adulthood, and saw me try and fail at college. HeAll
