About the Dutch River Dog
The Nederlandse Rivierenhond (or just Dutch River Dog in English) is thought to originate from the various rivers in the Netherlands. Sharing close ancestry with the Wetterhoun, they share a lot of characteristics. With its dense coat, it is extremely well suited to swim the fast flowing rivers in the Netherlands and it is a very helpful companion when hunting waterfowl in the overflowing parts of the Dutch river landscape.
In modern days this dog still excels in water sports. It can also be shown in conformation, but due to it's working orientated breeding it will probably never win from show bred dogs.
