Nameless from Crystalis

Part 7/24 of my NES Hidden Gems project.

Whew, this was meant to be posted last month, but the big Sonic pic and my job really got in the way of my drawing progress... well, it's finally here and hopefully I can catch up to my posting schedule. But enough ranting, here's Crystalis
I'm pretty sure the overall look and gameplay remind you of a certain other game >3
I mean, overhead view, fantasy setting, guy with sword crawling through dungeons... heh, well, in truth, while it's resemblance to Zelda should have been a blessing, it was in fact a curse. You see, if you thought that haters and fanboys are a problem now, you're very mistaken, they were pretty much the same back in the 90s, and since this game committed the grave sin of being better than the original Zelda, all the Zelda fanboys raged and whined the crap out of it until it was pushed into the abyss of obscurity. I mean c'mon, we all know the first Zelda is a classic and all, but it was outdated even when this game came out, so naturally it was better, it had better graphics, far better music, it was incomparably less cryptic (and you did not need to buy Nintendo Power to actually progress because of impossible to figure out moments), and it was in fact, a better game than the original Zelda. Plus, even the original Zelda was a ripoff of Hydelide (not the crappy port, the original MSX one).
Not really sure what to say here, the game is what you'd expect from a Zelda-like game, it has an engaging plot, lots of dungeons to explore, lots of cool monsters to slay, and lots, lots of hours of enjoyable playtime. All in all, if it had "Zelda" in it's title, it would be a "timeless classic" today, but alas, if it's not named like that, it's a "shameless ripoff" pushed into obscurity. SO if you're one of those Zelda fans who actually liked games which play similar, be sure to pick this one up ^^

As for the pic itself, I kinda wanted to take a break from all the action poses, and do something more calm, plus, after so many cartoony characters, I wasn't sure how I'd manage some more humanlike anatomy, so yeah XD
