All my heart... I've given his feathers all my heart and a lot of patience, but I'm happy with the result.... ever since Chouca, Hubby's chosen father, left us almost a year ago (can it be a year, already?), I've wanted to draw the bird that gave him his nickname,... Funny thing, my father-in-law got this nickname as a kid and it stuck so well that, when he was all grown-up, most of the people in town would know him by "Chouca" only, and almost nobody knew his real name

So here is a Western Jackdaw, known in our region as a Choucas (pronounce it Shoo-kaaah). It's a really cool bird that loves to nest in old buildings, ruins and cliffs.... Once it has found a mate, they stay together for life... In some regions, there is a legend that says they're the messengers of God, because they love to nest in belfries... and thus, they're the only birds that are banned from Hell I didn't know that story before doing some research about this lovely bird, but I thought it was cute and funny...
