- Story -

Alexandra lay a hand on Drogan's powerful neck as he snorted entering the arena. His ears were swiveling and his icy gaze seemed to size up the other horses in the ring. Alexandra spoke softly to him, reminding him this wasn't a competition day. Only here to learn. It eased his intensity a little.

During the warm up he had a nice loose and long extended walk, stretching his back and really reaching through his stride. A light breeze picked up from the coast nearby and Alexandra breathed the pair into a lovely elevated trot. They glided through a few patterns, with Alexandra collecting and extending Drogan's gait to play with his pace and extension as Kaira instructed, the other riders working in sync.

Then came time for the first canter transition, and at Alexandra's leg cue Drogan's ears pinned as he worked to carry himself into it. Kaira then asked for a return to the trot, sharing some personal experience tips to help the long-backed Zlesdin more easily take the trot-canter transition. Alexandra adjusted her position and this time focused on preparing the stallion for the transition by engaging the hindquarters a little extra in the strides right before she asked for canter. Drogan puffed as his hind legs came better under him and his shoulders lifted more easily into the transition, and Alexandra beamed.

They finished a nice circle, Drogan carrying himself with ease now, and Alexandra pet his beautiful arched neck. He was so powerful, and if they could better learn to channel his strengths together from this clinic, great things lie ahead for them.
