Choose Your Learning Track

VNIT allows flexible learning. Choose your learning track as per your convenience. Either enroll for the MTech program for 2 years, or PG Diploma which can be completed over 12 to 18 months.

SEMESTER STRUCTURE

VNIT also allows for credit transfers. If you completed PG Diploma from VNIT and accrued 40 credits, you can then complete the MTech project thesis, receive 12 more credits, and get an MTech degree also.

EV vs ICE vehicle system comparison, driving feel comparison, EV sub-systems identification on vehicle, and e-Powertrain physical integration aspects.

e-Powertrain Subsystems Familiarization

e-Powertrain disassembly to sub-system level, high-level characterization, and EV sub-Systems reassembly

Laboratory 3

Data Acquisition on vehicles

Data collection on electric vehicle using loggers, data analysis for driver behavior,data analysis for operating conditions, use-case creation for various functional validation.

Laboratory 4

Power Switching Devices & Power Converter Familiarization

Verify and compare PE components, build basic circuits, and study the characteristics of single-phase and three-phase rectifiers, DC-DC converters, and voltage inverters through relevant measurements.

Laboratory 5

Electric Machines Familiarization : ACIM, BLDC,PMSM, SRM

Learn motor functioning, disassemble and reassemble 2-3 motor types, perform basic characterization on the bench, and develop technical specifications from test results.

Laboratory 6

Vehicle Evaluation for Salvage & Insurance Claims

Evaluate second-use electric vehicle for HV & LV battery SoH, motor, consumables, roadworthiness, and components; perform mock evaluations. For accident survey, estimate damage, restoration, replacements, and insurance disbursement.

Laboratory 7

Safety Audit - EV Service & Charging Station

Conduct safety audits for EV service workshops and charging stations, including safety checklists, technician protection, safety protocols, fire extinguishers, evacuation plans, and foolproofing for ramps, pits, and parking.

Laboratory 8

On-Board Diagnostic Hardware Familiriazation

Identify and locate various ECUs, diagnostic ports (OBD-1, OBD-2), sensors, actuators, cables, and power flow components on vehicles, considering regulations, safety, and environmental factors like dust and water ingress.

Laboratory 9

Diagnostic Tools Familiarization

Explore various diagnostic tools (OEM, third-party, OBD dongles) and their uses, including hardware/software, diagnostic codes, messages, and exercises for root cause analysis and classification.

Laboratory 10

OBD Data Collection, Analysis and Setting-up Simple VHM

Collect vehicle data using OBD loggers, clean and compare with reference data, analyze failure signs, set up automated alerts, and integrate data analytics with vehicle health management systems.
