Synopsis
Michael Newman (Sandler), a workaholic architect bent on forging ahead, buys a remote control appearing not only to control his TV and stereo, but almost all of his life. Michael is soon hooked on the rush of power that literally allows him to have his cake and eat it. But before he knows what's happened, it's the remote control that's programming him, more than the other way round. Panicking, Michael can't get the thing to stop deciding which events in his life he'll experience and which not. Only then does he start to appreciate and fully accept his life: the good, the bad and the ugly.

Critics' reviews
- "This comic fantasy is the best vehicle he's (Sandler) ever had, a high-concept goof that gradually darkens into an emotional nightmare reminiscent of Capra"
- "The movie is gag-filled, as you would expect of a Sandler movie, but the filmmakers realize they have hit upon an idea that is both clever and good2
- "If it doesn't quite represent the new, improved Adam Sandler, it shows him almost desperately trying to figure out who that might be"
- "Another 'nice' Sandler comedy that works, thanks to some smart and genuinely moving ideas"
