Synopsis

End of the 15th century. Isabel the Catholic (Susi Sánchez) sends her daughter Juana (Pilar López de Ayala) to Flanders to marry Philip the Handsome (Liotti). It is a political marriage that serves to seal and guarantee a dynastic alliance between the Catholic Monarchs and the Emperor of Germany Maximilian I, in order to isolate France. Following the same policy, the marriage of Catherine and Henry VIII of England had been arranged. However, Joan, madly in love with her husband, could not bear his infidelities; her excessive love often led to terrible and unhealthy fits of jealousy. This situation, together with the intrigues of the court, contributed to the deterioration of the marital relationship.
