Synopsis
Lawrence stars as ex-con Miles Logan--a crafty jewel thief forced to hide his stash of diamonds at a construction site when his million heist went awry. Now that he's out of the slammer, he wants the loot back! There's only one problem--the place he hid them is now an L.A. police precinct. When he impersonates a badgeman to get close to his jewels, he winds up in the middle of robberies, drug busts and car chases with his unsuspecting rookie partner (Wilson). Which will happen first--Miles recovering his lost booty or gaining the respect of the police force for action in the line of duty?
Critics' reviews
- "The plot is formula all the way, but Lawrence has found a way to incorporate the physical techniques of the great silent stars with his standup comic's arsenal, and it's a pleasure to watch him at work."
- "It isn't particularly subtle or original. But it's a good-natured late-summer romp fueled by Lawrence's manic shtick."
- "Offers two or three worthwhile laughs"
- "Not a bad concept, and Martin Lawrence is appealing. Unfortunately, the writers have no gift for comic writing."
- "The movie is pretty bad. It's Rush Hour meets 48 Hours meets Bad Boys"
- "Thinking isn't going to do anyone a bit of good during Blue Streak. Turn off your brain instead and you might enjoy it."
- "Provides a nifty 90-minute escape"
