Synopsis
TV Series (1965-1970). 5 Seasons. 138 Episodes. Mel Brooks and Buck Henry created this show as a spoof of James Bond and the many TV imitators that followed in 007's wake. The series starred Don Adams as bumbling secret agent Maxwell Smart, Agent 86. Barbara Feldon's character had no name; even after Smart married her, he (and everyone else) would always address her as "99". Smart and 99 worked for CONTROL, a secret U.S. Government spy agency. Together, the pair investigated and opposed various threats to the world while Smart's bumbling caused complications. However, at each story's climax, Smart and 99 never fail to save the day.

Critics' reviews
- "It was a romp from start to finish. I only hope they can keep up the big joke through a season."
- "They don't just ladle out the gags, they hurl them at us by the shovelful. And you see each one coming."
- "What really sharpens up this burlesque is the wonderful writing of Mel Brooks and Buck Henry. If you're sick and tired of heavy-handed espionage, this one will bring you back into the world of laughter."
- "The acting... is the work of top-shelf comic performers."
