George Barbier was a French illustrator in the early 20th century. He belonged to a group of flamboyant artists from the Ecole des Beaux Arts. Vogue called them “The Knights of the Bracelet”. He influenced the art deco style that was popular in the late 1920s.
He illustrated high fashion, theatre, ballet, books and magazines such as Gazette Du Bon Ton. He drew stylish women with graceful shapes inspired by flowers and plants.
