- In the Summer-Fall 2024 edition of the International Desalination and Reuse Association (IDRA) Global Connections, AECOM’s Global Innovations Leader, Gavin Scherer, discusses a holistic approach to addressing the growing PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) challenge. PFAS compounds have become a critical environmental concern due to their persistence in the environment and their ability to bioaccumulate. Scherer highlights the potential of DE-FLUORO™ technology, an innovative PFAS removal and destruction solution that helps clients meet stringent regulations. Through a patented electrochemical oxidation (EO) process DE-FLUORO™ technology effectively remove and destroy PFAS from contaminated water, providing an environmentally sustainable, cost-effective approach that prevents re-entry into the environment. With industry collaboration, DE-FLUORO™ can be seamlessly integrated into treatment plans to address PFAS challenges and help create a safer environment for future generations. - Two of our BioMOD™ Moving Bed Biofilm Reactors (MBBR) mobile units have successfully been implemented at a prominent paper mill in New York. This year-long deployment will provide a much-needed solution for the mill’s aging infrastructure before it can be updated. The paper mill had been struggling with high loads of BOD/COD in its wastewater discharge and needed a timely solution. Seamlessly integrated, the units augmented the treatment capacity by 100 gallons per minute (gpm) each, significantly increasing the capacity for processing wastewater. As a result, the paper mill experienced a 50% reduction in its BOD/COD load. Learn more about the ease and flexibility of our mobile solutions: 🔗 https://hubs.ly/Q02Y4GM50
- The mining industry is increasingly prioritizing water efficiency by integrating advanced dewatering technologies to address both operational challenges and environmental concerns. In a recent publication from Global Water Intelligence (GWI), Ashwin Thakkar, Aquatech’s Director of Project Development, discusses the economic and environmental benefits of adopting Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) technology in mining operations. He emphasizes that this shift toward sustainable water management solutions not only aligns with ESG goals but also fosters responsible resource optimization throughout the industry.
