Breaking Ground on The Corliss: A New Chapter for Milwaukee's Harbor District! Today, we proudly celebrated the groundbreaking of The Corliss, formerly the Filer & Stowell Manufacturing Company. Located in Milwaukee’s Harbor District, The Corliss is set to become Wisconsin’s largest new construction affordable housing development, featuring 432 multi-family units and 144 senior units—a total of 576 homes! This monumental project, the largest in Bear Development’s history and in Wisconsin, is made possible thanks to the support of our incredible partners. Design-Build works best when everybody makes the commitment to think and act as a single entity focused on achieving project goals. Design-Build is growing to be the most commonly used project delivery method in the USA. An FMI Corp market study projects Design-Build to represent over 47% of spending for construction projects by 2026 & will account for $1.9 trillion in spending nationwide over the next five years. Owners, in a Design-Build project are engaged from start to completion. There is usually a single point of responsibility on a Design-Build team, making it easier for Owners to coordinate details, convey concerns and adjust.
