🎨 Jeffrey Gibson is an interdisciplinary artist and member of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians and of Cherokee descent. Growing up across major urban centers in the United States, Germany, and Korea, Gibson brings a unique perspective to their art, weaving together their Choctaw-Cherokee heritage with global influences that span club culture, queer theory, fashion, politics, literature and art history. Walton School of Medicine is reshaping medical education in a new state-of-the-art facility in Bentonville, Arkansas, where the next generation of physician leaders will experience an innovative, four-year MD program that enhances conventional medical education with a whole-person approach to care. The one-of-a-kind facility is designed by Polk Stanley Wilcox with landscape and rooftop park design by OSD and is being brought to life by Crossland Construction Company, Inc.AWSOM is located on the Crystal Bridges campus, home to Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art and Heartland Whole Health Institute, minutes from downtown Bentonville and connected to the cities of Northwest Arkansas via the 40-mile paved Razorback Greenway. Through a $5 million commitment from the Tyson Family Foundation and Tyson Foods, Inc., the Tyson Scholars Program has supported the work of 76 scholars, attracting academic professionals in a variety of disciplines nationally and internationally who have worked on books, articles, and exhibition projects while in residence. Crystal Bridges and the Tyson Scholars program invite scholars focused on visual art, architecture, craft, visual and material culture, performance art, or new media to apply, as well as applications from scholars approaching US art transregionally and looking at the broader geographical context of the Americas, especially Latinx and Indigenous art.
