Take a quick look inside the 2024 Degenkolb Conference, better known as DegCon! This year, we gathered all our employees in San Francisco for a full day dedicated to knowledge sharing, collaboration, and celebrating our incredible team. The event was packed with insightful presentations that challenged us to think bigger, a lively rock-paper-scissors tournament that brought out everyone’s competitive side, and a fun-filled Casino Night to wrap up the day. Thank you to the entire Transamerica project team for the incredible opportunity to work on the Voluntary Seismic Retrofit, Corrosion Remediation, and Tenant Improvements at the iconic Transamerica Pyramid Center. Degenkolb team members—Laura Weyl, Anthony Ambrosio-Meir, Michael Chisholm, Ryan White, P.E., and Jack Wegleitner—were honored to attend last week’s grand re-opening ceremony. Also contributing to this project's success were Degenkolbers, Robert Pekelnicky, Ariane Rosario, SE, PE, and Paul Degenkolb, who are not pictured. It has been a privilege to collaborate on such a historic landmark alongside our outstanding project partners: SHVO, Montgomery Advisors, Hathaway Dinwiddie, Foster + Partners, and Huntsman Architectural Group. Together, we’re reinforcing the future of this San Francisco icon!
Degenkolb Engineers came out in force at the recent 2024 SEAOC Convention in Portland, OR! With this year’s theme, "Learning from the Past, Building the Present, Shaping the Future," our team contributed to vital discussions on resilience, safety, and innovation in structural engineering. Our experts presented on critical topics related to earthquake safety and building design, and we were proud to have Associate Principal, Melissa Vickery, S.E., serve as the Convention Chair. A special highlight was celebrating Chad Closs, San Diego Principal and Office Director, who was honored for his service as SEAOC Board Director. Degenkolb Engineers is thrilled to be a part of Stanford Medicine’s Pod-E Extensions Project! Degenkolb Principals, Lucie Fougner and James Liu, recently attended the groundbreaking ceremony, marking the beginning of this significant initiative. The project will add two 36-bed wings and convert semi-private rooms into 60 single-bed patient rooms, enhancing patient care and improving the overall patient experience. The Degenkolb team was thrilled to see the San Bruno Recreation and Aquatic Center (RAC) open its doors to the community this weekend in sunny San Bruno, CA! Holly Razzano, Lilian Gonzalez, and Alex Barnes were on hand to celebrate the grand opening. Replacing an existing and aged swimming pool and gymnasium/recreation center in San Bruno City Park, this new 49,360-square-foot, two-story facility is designed as a central hub for wellness and recreation, featuring a gymnasium, indoor pool, fitness center, and versatile multi-purpose rooms. The RAC offers a safe, resilient space for the community to gather, stay active, and connect, and has already become a vibrant addition to San Bruno. The Degenkolb team recently had the chance to visit the site of our project, the new Alder Creek Elementary School in Folsom, CA, as they were putting the finishing touches in ahead of its ribbon-cutting ceremony! 🎉 Part of the Folsom Cordova Unified School District, Alder Creek Elementary has transformed from a blank canvas into a stunning 70,000-square-foot, two-story facility. Designed with the future in mind, the school is ready to welcome 700+ students from TK through 5th grade, with room for expansion as the community grows. 📚📓✏️🎒 The campus also features a sports field, basketball courts, and multiple recreation areas, making it a vibrant hub for outdoor activities. Alder Creek Elementary is set to become a vital part of the community and a foundation for the future of our young learners.
