- We created a program called Community Proud, Celebrating Those That Live and Work Amongst Us in April of this year. Working with Maria Miranda, Core Plus Credit Union signed on as the sponsor and the program has celebrated so many in our community. With the Connecticut House at the Big E in Springfield having been re-imagined by Anthony M. Anthony and Rachel Lenda, the Chamber celebrates Rachel as this week's Community Proud featured member. Follow this link https://lnkd.in/e6tkrMwKto read about the program and all the winners including Rachel. The Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce will also have our Traveling Visitor Center in front of the Connecticut House on Connecticut Day promoting Southeastern Connecticut. Come visit us as we will have a lot of free swag to giveaway including Dunkin' Gift Cards, Beer'd Frisbees, Coozies, Bookmarks and more!
- Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce's Mystic Outdoor Arts Festival has been selected as the winner of the Art Festival category for Boston Magazine’s 2024 New England Travel Awards! For the inaugural New England Travel Awards, the editors of Boston Magazine asked readers to nominate their favorite places to stay and play across New England in 20 distinct categories, with submissions accepted through bostonmagazine.com and social media. Once the nomination period ended, a panel of travel experts reviewed the submissions and selected a #winner in each category. Here is what the judges said about the Mystic Outdoor Art Festival: "Forget gallery hunting for your next “OMG, where did you find that?” piece of art: One visit to this mega-festival—the oldest juried art show in the Northeast—will yield exactly what you’re seeking. The two-day August event brings some 270 artists from around the country to Downtown Mystic CT, where a mile-long stretch of tents along the scenic Mystic River showcases oil and watercolor paintings, photography, ceramics, jewelry, and textiles..." - The Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce creates one of a kind experiences that appeal to the Community and beyond. On July 13th we had our 5th annual Floatswella which was the best one yet! The Chamber partnered with North Swell, Mystic Seaport Museum, and Downtown Mystic Merchants and landed Dunkin' as the event name sponsor for Floatswella, a pop-up paddle-craft only rally on the Mystic River. We got in the Dunkin' spirit by adjusting the colors to their official pink and orange. The Red Lion Band provided the tunes and Dunkin’ representatives handed out thousands of swag items to people on land, throughout downtown Mystic, and paddleboarding through the crowd. Additional sponsors included Charter Oak Federal Credit Union, Westerly Sun, Mystic Transportation LTD, Stratedia, Yale New Haven Health, and Hartford HealthCare.

- On July 4th Mystic Schooners Baseball had a game at Fitch High School, their home field. The game was produced by PJ Moynihan for ESPN plus, thus giving the Schooners and Mystic a National Audience. The Chamber was invited by Dennis Long to work with PJ to provide content. Thanks to Bridge Marketing and Marcus Gram, we were able to produce this ad that appeared between innings during the game. This is what the Mystic Chamber does! We welcome and encourage collaboration amongst all of our members!
- WFSB did a story on the traveling Visitor Center Truck, Mystic, James Beard Award Finalists and Chamber Events. Covered a lot. Let us know if you want to be involved!

Had the pleasure of having lunch with DECD Commissioner Daniel O'Keefe today in Mystic. Took the opportunity to talk about Mystic, Tourism, parking, water taxis, local Business and Town to State Government. After lunch at S&P Oyster Restaurant we visited locals including The Whaler's Inn President Amanda Arling , James Beard award finalist David Standridge, Tall Ship Argia owner Amy Blumberg and Harp & Hound owner Leo Roche. Enjoyed learning about Dan's background and how he landed as DECD Commissioner. In the it's a small world department, he grew up in Natick, Massachusetts, one town over from where I grew up in Framingham! Finally, got to show him the Chamber's recently unveiled Traveling Visitor Center. A 1983 converted Postal Truck, to an ice cream truck and now our decked out visitor center. We will take it all around CT and beyond to promote the SE CT region. Thanks Dan for taking the time! - Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce reposted this
The Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce had an idea 2.5 years ago to create a traveling Visitor Center that could not only be parked in Mystic to help people navigate the area, but also to bring to events within a 30 to 40 mile radius, and promote our region. With help from the STONINGTON, TOWN OF and Town of Groton, the Chamber used Federal Covid funds to buy and develop the Touring Visitor Center. The truck, a 1983 formal postal mail truck, will hit the road spreading the word about the Mystic Region. Look for the truck at ribbon cuttings, Chamber and Area Events, and member businesses. The truck was purchased on EBAY in 2022 from Jeff Walters of Houston, Texas. He renovated the AM General FJ8C 1983 Postal Truck into Thrilla N Vanilla, a working ice cream truck. Antonino Auto Group had it shipped to Mystic where they helped start repairing it. We eventually brought it to Guy Palazzo, a good friend and a mechanic (who happens to also play in the 60's Explosion Show). He did amazing work and was very generous to the Chamber. Graphic Designer Abbie Park, who had helped the chamber for the Mystic Bascule Bridge Anniversary in 2022, worked with us on the design of the truck. Critical-Signs, owners Shawn and Jenn got the old wrap off and installed the new wrap. Look for it at events around the state. The Chamber continues to create opportunity for our members, the community and sponsors. - The Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce had an idea 2.5 years ago to create a traveling Visitor Center that could not only be parked in Mystic to help people navigate the area, but also to bring to events within a 30 to 40 mile radius, and promote our region.
