About us
Liliʻuokalani Trust (LT) is a private operating foundation founded in 1909 by Hawaiʻi’s last reigning monarch, Queen Liliʻuokalani. LT provides a complete array of healing services to kamaliʻi (beneficiary children) and their families to reach their full potential in life. With Hawaiian cultural values and practices as a foundation, our programs – in the arts, sports, ʻāina (land) and creative media – boost self-confidence and instill leadership and resilience among youth. LT has broadened its mission from a social welfare casework focus to include community change initiatives that affect the systems impacting Hawaiian families. The primary beneficiaries continue to be orphan and other desitute children, but our work also emphasizes the building of thriving Hawaiian communities and families that nurture and support their children. Our vision is to make a deeper system impact by focusing on breaking the cycle of poverty for Native Hawaiian families. Our mission: To provide opportunities for Hawaiian children to realize their greatest potential: Living healthy, joyful, & prosperous lives, contributing positively to their families, communities & the world.

- We recently launched a new feature on our website called "Voices of LT Teammates." Hear from Kaʻaiʻai Paglinawan on how the Hoʻopono program became a family legacy. "Ho’opono is a tool for families to resolve everyday problems because of the aloha that they continuously share with one another. Aloha is the basis of connection and belonging within families, and when they live in this way, they can prevent the deep hurts commonly experienced today. I see intergenerational strength. But you gotta choose to use hoʻopono." Click here to read more: https://lnkd.in/eqQCFue4

- This summer, a group of talented kamaliʻi showcased their skills and forged new friendships at LT's ʻŌlino Summer Program. Over three weeks, the young athletes honed their basketball abilities under the guidance of Coach Haku Durant and embraced the principles of ola kino (holistic wellness). Beyond the court, they connected with Hawaiian culture, engaged in hands-on activities at Nā Mea Kūpono, and drew inspiration from Queen Liliʻuokalani's legacy of resilience. By the end of the camp, these future leaders walked away with more than just improved athletic skills—they learned valuable lessons in teamwork, perseverance, and servant leadership.
