About us
PRRI is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to conducting high-quality public opinion research. PRRI’s research explores and illuminates America’s changing cultural, religious, and political landscape. PRRI’s mission is to help journalists, scholars, pundits, thought leaders, clergy, and the general public better understand debates on public policy issues, and the important cultural and religious dynamics shaping American society and politics. As a nonpartisan, independent research organization, PRRI does not take positions on, nor do we advocate for, particular policies. Research supported by our funders reflects PRRI’s commitment to independent inquiry and academic rigor. Research findings and conclusions are never altered to accommodate other interests, including those of funders, other organizations, or government bodies and officials.

- Did you catch PRRI CEO Melissa Deckman, Ph.D. talking about her new book, The Politics of Gen Z, on PBS News Weekend? “We find among Gen Z, especially Gen Z women, they care passionately about climate change, about gender equality, and also about preventing gun violence. Those are things that have really galvanized them in waves to march in the streets, to form their own organizations, and to lobby elected officials…” Watch the segment: https://lnkd.in/eQ6HBtR3 #USPolitics #Voters #GenerationZ #2024Election
- "In contrast to his vacillation on abortion, Trump’s rallies are filled with evocations of an idealized ethno-religious state that are articulate, energetic, and consistent. His nostalgic diatribes about reclaiming a lost white Christian past fueled his rise to presidential power, and he has continued this strategy in 2024." Just published at TIME: An excerpt from the new Afterword of PRRI President and Founder Robert P. Jones' New York Times bestseller, The Hidden Roots of White Supremacy. Trump’s Christian Nationalist Vision for America time.com - 📊 NEW: A PRRI survey of more than 5,000 Americans offers an in-depth analysis of public support for authoritarian ideologies and finds that support for authoritarian views is strongest among Republicans (particularly those who hold favorable views of former President Donald Trump), supporters of Christian nationalism, white evangelical Protestants, and weekly churchgoers. PRRI President and Founder Robert P. Jones said, “Notably, while the vast majority of Americans reject the use of political violence, those who support authoritarianism are nearly twice as likely as the general public to support it." Using the Right-Wing Authoritarianism Scale (RWAS) and the Child-Rearing Authoritarian Scale (CRAS), two classic approaches to measure authoritarianism, PRRI finds that while most Americans do not hold highly authoritarian views, a substantial minority does: 43% of Americans score high on the RWAS, while 41% score high on the CRAS. - New from PRRI Board Member Ruth Braunstein in RNS: "The prominence of these Catholic Christian nationalists may come as a surprise to those who associate Christian nationalism with white evangelical Protestantism. And rightfully so. While two-thirds of white evangelical Protestants nationally support Christian nationalism, according to PRRI’s American Values Atlas, only 30% of white Catholics do. And of these, only 8% of white Catholics are considered Christian nationalism “adherents” (who express the greatest support for Christian nationalist ideas) compared to 30% of white evangelical Protestants."

If you thought Christian Nationalism was just a White Evangelical thing, check out my latest piece @RNS, where I discuss the Catholic brand of Christian Nationalism that, with JD Vance's elevation to Trump's VP pick, is now at the epicenter of US political power. https://lnkd.in/dMQ_ywNA
