This week is dedicated to recognizing the invaluable contributions of nurse practitioners (NPs), physician assistants (PAs), clinical nurse specialists (CNSs), certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs), and certified nurse-midwives (CNMs) in delivering exceptional patient care. Since 2017, Stanford Center for Advanced Practice Health Care has celebrated APPs and spearheaded the inaugural National APP Week in 2021. This year, we’re excited to celebrate our 850 APPs who are certified and licensed to assess, diagnose, treat, manage illnesses, perform clinical procedures, and conduct clinical research. Our APPs are integral to promoting safe, accessible, evidence-based care for patients and communities. We’re especially thrilled to announce that Greer Stone, Mayor of the City of Palo Alto, has officially declared the fourth week of September as APP Week! This acknowledgment highlights the importance of our APPs and reinforces the collaborative relationship between Stanford Health Care and the Palo Alto community. Council Member and former Mayor Lydia Kou will present the proclamation at the 2024 National APP Week Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, September 25, commemorating this prestigious honor.
